401 West Georgia / 402 Dunsmuir

Pics by me yesterday May 28, 2020

I predict the black low wall will see nighttime car crash damage.

A couple of bright yellow bollards along it should do the trick. But of course the City may not allow that.

This building feels so 60s/institutional on the ground. Like an FBI office or something similar.

The entire frontage of the future Rec Room on Granville has been fenced off with plywood, taking up most of the sidewalk in evident readiness for construction. So excited to see that finally moving forward.

Yes definitely glad to see Rec Room starting, parts of Granville are really really rough, and that frontage is basically a homeless camp

At least they are keeping the dome on the roof, but blocking it from view with the cornice,
but also incorporating its curve into the rooftop amenity.
Strange hodgepodge...

PCI took over management and development of 333 Seymour as well as the 601 development.

Interesting. Thanks for clarifying. Guess I can't slag Morguard for this!

There's no room for them to camp out in front anymore.

Oh dear, what are the poor and vulnerable campers now going to do and where can they now urinate? /s

I have never understood how The Bay has allowed their Granville side wall turn into a Skid Row. This city is really following Tenderloin's example...

That side of the Bay was cleaned up and seating was placed there a while ago. Not sure how it has fared recently though.

What a kind way to make your point. Such generosity of spirit towards your weakest of fellows.

Isn't it 431?

Concord Pacific owns six sites in the former Expo lands that have been undeveloped for decades. The new memorandum of understanding proposes transferring ownership of three of the sites — 450 Pacific St., 990 Beatty St. and 1050 Expo Blvd. — to the City of Vancouver to build affordable non-market housing, using funding from the provincial government, and rezoning the remaining three sites — 1502 Granville St., 431 Beach Ave. and 900 Cooperage Way — for mixed-use market housing, which Concord Pacific would own and develop.

They mentioned that they might get rezoned in 2019 and developed sometime in 2020
