Upstairs in the Village is already closed. While not a restaurant, OV Club is also not reopening I've heard. Moxie's as a chain is in serious trouble.
I thought Moxie's was exclusively a franchise operation like its sister brand Milestones. The inability to find a local franchise operator was why Milestones failed to open in the Brown's location opposite MTS Centre.

Someone said Arby's in KP won't be re-opening. Not a restaurant by the club 441 Main permanently closed.

The writing was on the wall for the OV Stella's as soon as they unionized the Sherbrook location and then they promptly cut the evening shift at the Osborne location. The press release on Hermanos Facebook is just as odd to read and digest.
The free press article about Hermanos was annoying. Apparently the problem is there is no parking.

And this is half a block over. Bannatyne east of Main is almost more parking lots than buildings.
When people complain about the lack of parking in the Exchange I think they mean that they have trouble finding a free spot directly in front of the establishment they wish to visit... They MUST mean that.... right? Because there are parking lots Everywhere!!!!!
That whole article is ridiculous. My office is on Bannatyne, the construction was quite quick there. (Where the businesses on McDermot had every right to be pissed). Hermano’s has a dying model of a steakhouse with a large capacity. They also haven’t invested a cent into it since the day it opened, it looks old and tired inside and have crappy cheap menus. It’s sad when people blame others for their lack of talent, skill, or otherwise. Also funny to blame it on something that happened 2 years ago.
Stella’s was planning on closing that location for a while because it doesn’t fit in with their current model. The actual space is very small, and eating in the hallway and breathing in plastic nails melting wasn’t exactly a great experience. I’d heard over a year ago they were considering the old Basil’s is they would split it up, or a move somewhere else in the village. So that could still be happening.

It's mostly franchise but they still have some corporate locations. But I've heard governance at corporate has been poor and the business is rocky. I was told that St. Vital closed because they couldn't come to an agreement with corporate on upgrades – that was the first Winnipeg location to get the upgrades when they tried to go a bit more upscale ~10 years ago. Not sure the exact reason why Regent closed.None of the Winnipeg locations have seen any upgrades since they were opened/renovated, and are starting to get very stale (while Earls and Joey are always upgrading).
The quality of service and food in Hermanos took a dive. Our last time there was so bad we accepted that we wouldn't be back. We always paid for parking.
