Maybe James should invest in blinds?

He doesn’t seem to have any on his windows.

That always amazes me about Vancouverites. Hell even in the countryside I have always had blinds on my windows.

I do love how people in Japan don’t bitch about lights and signage in the city.

He's living in a brand new rental building. Are landlords OK with you adding things like blackout blinds?

I am also willing to bet that the lights will be dimmed anyways, as when lighting features and signs are first activated they are often tested / appear brighter than their final setting.

that's true. Although, after looking at the buildings website it looks like there may be black out blinds in the bedrooms.

But this is vancouver. I'm sure in no time this will be all turned off completely

I know you guys love to hate on people who complain, but you should see what is actually happening first. It's a complete joke, and some kind of programming error.

Ill admit I got up in arms instantly about NIMBY. But then you see the glow coming off this and its not reasonable.

I love light features, and will lobby for more anytime possible. Its dark and gloomy 7 months of the year here, we need them.

But there is a limit, and the glow on building opposite side the street was intense to say the least.

That being said - lights are going off at 10pm now, and the luminosity has been reduced by 50%.

Good that it was fixed so quickly.

But the light as-is, if dimmed, is art? They are just "on", with little to no pattern or anything.

CityTV was reporting that Westbank screwed up and left the lights on overnight. The Safeway manager said they are only supposed to be on during store hours. Safeway seems to be taking the brunt of Westbank's screw-up.
You'd think that Westbank would be sensitive to the issue during the testing/burn-in phase after the Telus Garden complaints. Shows how much thought was put into these processes.

The video on CityTV showed a few random dark panels and a few coloured panels - so I expect they are full spectrum / multi-coloured panels. Presumably they burn-in on white which covers all colours of the spectrum.

You are right, that’s fair. I haven’t experienced it. It just reminded me of when Bc place turned on the big screen at terry fox plaza and people freaked out. And I lived directly facing it and experienced that and I had no problem with it.

Same here, I commented on NIMBYism on a FB article about this, looked at the pictures again, then deleted my comment. The glow was indeed very intense. Perhaps we are all becoming NIMBY sympathizers.

It still boggles my mind that such light displays were not installed where they should have been, on the Nordstrom building at Granville and Robson.

That blank canvas above the London Drugs sign is also screaming for some sort of lighting feature or signage.

So strange, but then they put one here on Davie street...
