FWIW, UT, A&M, Texas Tech and others all intend to have in-person classes this fall. Also, according to this article by KXAN, there's a lot of brave talk about having football in some form ready to play this fall, too.

I don't think that photo shows you where the dome currently is.

Tom Herman said a long time ago that he wanted to be able to see downtown Austin from the club levels in the new south end zone structure.

I do agree it might be a missed opportunity. At least, I would hope that they install a green roof on that structure.

The article is a little confusing. In terms of seating, it only mentions seating capacity won't change, so not sure why the title says eyeing 112,000 capacity when the article itself says nothing regarding that.

Seating capacity and total capacity are different. It's not unheard of to see game attendance listed higher than the seating capacity of a stadium. Everyone in the stadium is counted (like media people for instance), not just those in the seats.

Edit: I guess I glanced at the article too quickly. The article title does say seating capacity. So who knows...

Texas' average home attendance was over 100% "seating capacity" for the majority of Mack Brown's time in Austin. And, UT's largest crowd (officially) was versus USC in 2018 at 103,507 (103.34% capacity at that time) - not a Mack Brown year, obviously.

Just to be statistically clear, there were times under Mack that the stadium reached more than 104% capacity at that specific time in the stadium's history.

There are a lot of arguments about it, but CDC said that UT scanned 116,000 into the LSU game. As much as I'd love it...it's hard to imagine that fact since the stands in the south end zone had already been removed.
