So 394 Portage started to be torn down yesterday – the old Boyd Pharmacy / Urban Bakery (beside jellybean park lot). Is the long rumoured new Boyd tower actually happening?!

It was last proposed as a parkade. There was supposed to be an addition/new tower on the Don's Photo Building

Hmm... a mixed use parkade? I thought the city didn’t want major parkades having access of lanes.

I'm all for more modernization of downtown Portage Ave. and welcome this development, but where would Don's relocate to?

Is there a picture or rendering of this? I haven't seen it and would love to know what it looks like.

I would think that anything that replaces that small building and empty lot would be an improvement for the street. Looking forward to seeing something built there.

The building Don's is located is not the one being demo'd.

Its the little two storey building at 394 Portage.

Also did a Ctrl-F (search) in Firefox for the word Portage and it didn't come up with anything for 394.

As far as I know that's the way the demo process works.

The original question regarding a rendering was pertaining to the Bill and Helen Norrie Library not 394 Portage Ave.

Bill and Helen Norrie Library
Location: Cambridge Street and Grant Avenue, Winnipeg, MB
Developer: City of Winnipeg
Architects: LM Architectural Group
Contractor: Gateway Construction
Size: 14,000 Sq Ft
Cost: $6.3M
Status: U/C
Media: Proposed design calls for City’s first non-gendered, universal washroom
Renderings & Construction pics: https://forum.skyscraperpage.com/showpost.php?p=8581675&postcount=129
Description: The new library will be northwest of the Pan Am Pool, near the intersection of Poseidon Bay and Cambridge Street. It will take up 14,000 square feet in the Grant Park campus and will replace the existing River Heights Library at 1520 Corydon Ave. The new library is set to open in 2021.

Wpg_Guy, I don't want to be a watchdog, but the Bill and Helen Norrie Library is being built by Gateway Construction.

Thanks! I’ll change that, it was the template from the Transcona library project, forgot to change it.
