One amusing effect of the service change is that midday service on route 96 along Hunt Club has actually increased.

Route 96 has 30 minute service for most of the day on Saturdays, but in the "normal" M-F schedule, midday service is only hourly.

Since the M-F service has changed to Saturday schedules, that means that M-F midday service levels are actually higher than normal on route 96.

Wow that's stupid. Any bus route within the Greenbelt should have a 30 minute frequency at a minimum. Hell, even in the suburbs.

This may also be the case with Route 49.

I think you're right. If you select a date earlier in March you can see the regular schedules; e.g. https://www.octranspo.com/en/plan-your-trip/schedules-maps/?sched-lang=en&date=20200302&rte=49

In the "normal" M-F schedule, service on route 49 is every two hours between 10AM and 2PM. With the Saturday schedules in effect, it is now hourly all day, though peak period service is much less, since there is no more peak period.

These are almost all extra trips before they would usually start for the morning. The Saturday service levels are reasonable during the day, but many routes start just a little too late for a regular work day.

The 2019 4th quarter ridership stats from the APTA have been out for a couple of weeks now and Ottawa is... not on it??

I saw that too - was very curious to check what the first quarter of LRT service looked like, and Ottawa was missing. It's weird. They were fine with submitting numbers for the first three quarters of 2019. In fact, as far as I can tell, they've released numbers every quarter (even during strikes!) going back to at least 1996.

I wonder if things were so bad the city opted not to release anything.

If the numbers don't match the message, don't release them. OC has been telling us that ridership has gone up since Line 1 opened, so if that wasn't true, they might have opted to not release anything.

I with the province/feds tied transit funding to reporting transparency. The only way we'll know if our investments are working is if we have a clear picture of their impacts.

I’m curious how you would have them temporarily reroute the busses during the closure of Rideau St? It is easy to complain that their solution is bad, but without providing a viable alternative, it is just whining.

Put all of the Rideau routes on the bridge so that there's a common transfer point for to and from all of them.
