While they have traffic totally fucked there, they should also do the Hamilton/Highbury intersection improvements at the same time.

York in front of VIA has FINALLY completed and been opened. City needs to sit down with contractors and engineering dept and do a post implementation report on why these projects are taking too long. Clearly there is something wrong with processes and planning that results in these being late. And it is not just weather excuses.

Surprised to see it open, considering the work they were doing when I went up Richmond about 10am. Still, considering it was dirt moonscape a few days ago, I'm impressed. I assume this isn't it with this street though? Are they going east to Wellington next year, or up Clarence?

I believe the sewer separation on York is planned to continue until they reach Lyle. Richmond will be torn up next year to either King or Dundas, can't remember which at the moment.

Not in the City proper, but Wonderland Road needs one final extension to Highway 3

With all the traffic using the road south of the 401 now, it's one of the main connectors to St. Thomas. Just before Wonderland ends, it slows to 60km/h, curves to the E-W and you need to take another rural connector road to access Highway 3.

In terms of Fantasy, if an interchange was added at Highway 3 and Wellington, then the St. Thomas Expressway could actually start at this new intersection with Wonderland. Heck this could be an interchange too. Properties aren't connected to Highway 3 until it's west of Wonderland.

It would be relatively simple I think, barely a quarter mile. It was never done originally because Wonderland just curved east onto county road 52 and carried on east towards Aylmer before the highway 3 bypass was built just south of it. Honestly, in the hundreds of times I have gone through there over the years, I've never been bothered by the jog onto 52 to go onto highway 3. And many of those times have been in a tractor trailer. The county or township hasn't even seen the need to put a light there yet so I don't think the volume is such that it requires re-jigging the intersection. I would be interested in the traffic count down there because it's rare I see more than one or two cars between the 401 and 3. It's certainly a lot quieter a road now than it was when Ford was open, at least at this intersection.

Must be almost spring. Once again, more Wilton Grove closures starting next week. Starting Monday, and for the next 7 or so months, WG is closed from Commerce to Old Victoria for reconstruction. Which will be nice when it's done for sure.

I've never seen so much garbage along the stretch of Highbury south of Hamilton Rd to the 401. WTF! Did a garbage truck dump its load all the way down that stretch.

Unless things are changing because the shutdowns, Clarke Rd north of Huron is supposed to be closing tomorrow until April 24th. I imagine bridge work since that's where the sign is.

Also, Highbury lane closures start at the river south of Hamilton on April 14. They will be putting a crossover in the median so it will be 2 way traffic over each side of the bridge while work is done on the other side, and then switch sides later on in the summer.

Still 'supposed' to be full steam ahead for the construction business.

If things get restricted some more, I think publicly funded projects and/or infrastructure work will still go ahead to some degree. It would be private projects that would slow or stop.

Clarke will be curved a bit to meet up with the VMP extension. I would assume this closure is related to that.

The sign for the closure is up by the river. They did a similar closure last April for bridge work as well. I don't think Clarke is going to be closed for that intersection change until they actually have VMP running through there.

Also, sewer season is beginning on Monday May 4th with 3 projects beginning, each supposed to last about 3 months.

Richmond will be closed between York and King. The intersections will be open, although York has had some work done on it this past week with a centre median installed just west of Clarence, and they will likely be paving here soon.

Dundas will be closed between English and Rectory. You will be able to access Dundas eastbound from Rectory, and I assume also Rectory from Dundas westbound.

Hamilton Road will be closed east of Egerton. As well Egerton will be closed north and south of Hamilton. You will however be able to access Trafalgar going eastbound from Hamilton and also go westbound on Trafalgar onto Hamilton.

Wilton Grove reconstruction is progressing what looks like a lot faster than planned. They were paving the stretch between Cheese Factory and Commerce today, and the road is finished and lines painted a little ways east of Cheese Factory. Supposed to be finished by the end of September, but I wouldn't be shocked to see this done in the next couple weeks.

Knowing the ineptitude of our city traffic planning dept they likely are rebuilding it as 2 lanes without paved shoulders, dedicated turn lanes. 2 inch skim coat of asphalt that will be destroyed by all the heavy truck traffic within a year.

Planning and vision would see it built as four lanes wide with diverged left turn lanes and right turn lanes to open up drivers sight lines and paved shoulders. Heavy load engineered with extra base and even concrete in areas where trucks would ruin the roadbed. Let's hope so....
