oh it's topped-out already! I thought it was going to be taller. well disregard my previous post then :-)

I must have been looking at this rendering before where it appears taller than Tower 2

I think there's still some crown to go.

At one point Tower 4 was supposed to be taller than Tower 2 and effectively the second tallest tower in the project.
But the project has undergone a number of re-designs during which it has seen Tower 2 now as the 2nd tallest in the project and Tower 4 (which isn't referred to as Tower #4, for obvious reasons, but rather Tower #1 of phase II - go figure), now shorter than Tower 2 (And also Tower 3, I think).
I believe the height was reduced when KPF took over the re-design of the last two towers because almost all the initial renderings show it as the second tallest in the project.

Tower #5 (or 60000 McKay Ave.) is still supposed to be the tallest in the project and the signature tower of the project.

I was referring to Lexus' pic where there are still unfinished columns at the top of the tower.

Correct. Not finished just yet, but very close.

Nice, thanks.
The striping across the balconies should help the look of that one (Tower 4?)

This complex has already transformed Metrotown skyline and there is still the final tower to go up.

Is the city going to put a one way bike lane on the McKay (say east side) when Station Square is done?

I've noticed that Burnaby has been adding local bike lanes to all the new buildings being built around Metrotown - for example all the new construction on Marlborough and Imperial. These are usually done as a part of the sidewalk and then they merge to the road on corners. I guess this is a new standard street design for all the new construction.

They might. Burnaby has very poor planing in regards to bike lanes

It's part of Burnaby's design standards for their town centres.

In that shot, the last tower doesn't look very wide (narrower than the one to the south)

Thanks!
That angle makes it look as tall as the taller one behind.
And you can see the banding extending across the balconies at the base.

Thank you for comments. Some projects are just too close to document all the time, but I am happy to provide an updated snapshot of everything going on in Metrotown.

I was surprised to notice that when editing these photos, as it doesn't appear that way in real life and Tower 2 is clearly a taller one.

I am really looking forward to Tower 5 taking shape this year!

It's always a great fun time here on the forum when Mr. Klazu takes his camera for a walk in the neighbourhood.

A feast for the eyes!

Great shots as always, Maestro.

I especially like the second shot which gives a hint at how great that block will look once Tower 5 is complete, and if it matches, or looks anything like the rendering.

I wonder if there are any development plans in the future for the Esso gas station lot or the strip mall across the road from it.
Get some decent looking towers on those two lots and you could get a pretty nice gateway for the Metrotown "downtown" core coming up from Kingsway.

Thanks, spr0ckets!

There is going to be a small building (condo sales center) go up over the grass at the corner. Everything should be ready for that to go ahead any month now.
