Yeah I noticed that too. It looks like the city is on Baffin Island there but in the summer those are green farm fields.

It is actually a good thing from a land use perspective to have agricultural land so close to the city.

Exactly. Those are the best farmlands in the province. They are protected, thankfully.

Quebec/Greater Montreal have been guilty of more than a few land use sins, but yes there is hope for improvement and the future.

There's a green belt of protected agricultural land on the South Shore, but there's a lot of sprawl in other directions. From the middle of downtown, it's about 45km to the edge of the built-up area if you travel north, 40km to the west and 30km to the east. But only a little over 10km to the south.

Love it when big stuff looms low in the distance! AND, any drive south on Yonge Street, where it happens over and over again . . . even back when the big boys looming downtown were just the original TD Centre towers and Commerce Court. Ahhh, second childhood skyscraper thrill. The first being coming into Vancouver from Horseshoe Bay.

To get that view of the core and Eglington from that height it would have to have been taken from Hogs Hollow. That's 12.5 km from the core.

It certainly is an interesting, deceptive shot. Looks like it was taken from the footbridge that crosses Yonge on the south side of the 401/Yonge northbound exit ramp.

We have 2-3 in the 180-200m range...but given everything, who the F knows.
