must be a long-term stay hotel, with kitchens in each unit and selection of 1 and 2 bedroom units. not sure about the location for a hotel, not super strategic given other key assets in downtown

It does seem a little weird of a location, but it is closer to Gore Park than the Days Inn. I assume Vranich knows what he's doing with Hamilton hotels.

Hopefully a hotel will spur some development in the area, especially on the sea of parking lots

Vranich may know a little about the comment made from Judy Lam, manager of commercial districts and small business for the City of Hamilton, who said in this article: “it seems that every surface parking lot downtown has been sold for planned development. I think you won’t recognize the downtown in a couple of years.”

I am all for development in this area of downtown, arguably needs the most attention / least loved . So heck ya, if it brings on more redevelopment and elimination of surface lots, the better we will be.

I apologize for these trash pictures, but it's a bit closer up from Saturday the 14th.

Looking good! Hope they cement or patch all those chipped corners of the facade panels when they are done - doesn't look like they were too careful in putting them up..

I mean hell if they're chipping now imagine what they'll look like 20 years form now..

Looks like the podium has reached the 7th floor. Now the tower starts!

Should reach its full height by the end of the summer if there's no enforced shut down of construction sites

Construction workers for hi-rise residential buildings are exemption from the provincial shutdown.

For now. If that doesn't change, the lack of material will cause the eventual work stoppage.
