I imagine they're working full speed on the interior during the cold and will probably work on the finishing touches of exterior again once it warms up more. Can't blame 'em.

Now this is an agonizingly slow construction of basically a small simple building. The first picture of construction of this building shows up in this forum June 15, 2018.

not as agonizingly slow as the one down the street from it where the old bingo hall was - where it's STILL just a hole..

I thought the Annex windows would be same height and line up horizontally with the ones in the Lister Block for symmetry.

Also why are the windows on the fifth floor of the new building shorter in height than the other floors?

You are correct..

The answer to that appears to be the concrete wall directly above the last window on the far right on the 5th floor- you can see its clearly higher than the other windows as they have been patched in with yellow board to match it.. this may have been for structural reasons.

What everyone needs to understand is the render you see for a building design is done before the engineers get at it and determine load bearing calculations, which often changes the design to reflect physics and reality so that it doesn't collapse. Because it doesn't have a 6th floor above it the concrete has to be thicker - you can see the same thickness on the 6th floor roof - so this is most likely a structural reason. If there wasn't that downstep those windows probably could have all been maintained at the same height.

I mean if you look at the original render lots of little things have changed - like the difference in colour brick and the brick facing on the front on either side - no glass transition down between the 2 buildings - no pure curtain wall on the top floor, no removal of the brick buttressing that was put on the side of the lister block, etc.

When you look at that recent photo taken from further back, you can see the windows actually match up with the Lister Block fairly well, at least as well as you can when you're trying to match a modern building with one from 1924. They seem to have even replicated the 2nd floor window style quite well.

Yeah they've done a pretty good job. With the yellow padding you can see the second highest floor COULD have had 3 of those 4 windows be the same height as the lister, with the 4th window being the odd man out - but they went for consistency across instead.

there were plans by LiUNA to build a tower behind Lister. What happened to that?

I wish they turned that parking lot strip in the middle of the block into a green space

In all honesty:

a) I don't think they're allowed to

b) I don't think they can.

Places like the lister block still need places for trucks to bring deliveries for the restaurants etc - so it's like a delivery alley of sorts. They could possibly landscape the back of the buildings a bit though.

I'm kinda disappointed with the neutral colours of 23/25 king william next door, esp. considering the 2 toned cornice finishes of the buildings right next to it - it just feels.. bland.. esp. compared to the rich red and gold facade that building originally had. Still, it looks better than it did at least, and at least the bottom floor has the same stone finish the building 3 buildings down has so that's nice. The green cornice beside it needs so much tlc so badly though.. just paint it!

Glad to see the cornice going up on the lister annex though - should be interesting to see if it's just a plain white vinyl paneled look all around like in the render, or if they'll go with something like a black look instead.

Also nice to see the annex entrance facade going up
