It's pretty cool looking, but it's way to big and close to the falls. I also give it a 1 in 10 shot of ever going forward.

The theme is quite different from the original. Unfortunately, it's just as tacky. Both look like they stoloen from Sheik Zayad Road.

The developer has actually built condo towers. This isn't Burnaby with an established market. They have to build a market and quickly as these tower are huge. I give it 1 in 50 chance.

I love it. I am assuming that these are the same heights as the original towers, so a rezoning will not needed. The previous plan was also slated as mixed-use hotel and residential too, so it's really just an aesthetic refinement for an already approved development.

However, at this point, it's really hard to tell if they'll be able to sell enough units to get it off the ground, given the economy at the moment.

Nice flyover but not the redesign posted.

Getting a 1 Bloor East meets Dubai/Singapore (and some Aqua and even Absolute) feeling.

Since this won't get built here, have green-lighted purchase of the design for the portlands in T.O. The city can absorb (lovely, nutty) type stuff.

Bravo to the render folk on this one. May not see the light of day but kudos.

Both designs are tacky but at least the revised version has the grace of being 2020 tacky instead of the stale 2005 tacky like the other one.

But yeah, with the new reality that has suddenly descended upon us, these types of long shot proposals seem extremely unlikely to happen.

Can't say I like either, but it is better than previous and given the other proposal we saw a couple months back I'm hopeful that Niagara Falls has turned a corner with design overall.

Here's a new one for Halifax, Press Block. It is going to replace a parking lot that's been on a prominent street corner since speculative demolition circa 1990.

http://pressblock.ca/

It will incorporate the existing Dennis Building:

It extends to the other side of the narrow block:

Here's streetview showing the Dennis Building behind Province House, the big gap behind, and the rest of the area, which is mostly built out with medium-scale buildings:

Another similar project a couple blocks away is The Governor. Nothing too dramatic but it should fit well into the area:

The render quality notwithstanding, I think it’s already been approved.

These renderings are far more informative as to what the cladding systems are expected to be:

Don't love all of that parking.

I like the overall look of the scallops. They look tacked on in the close up conceptuals. The shapes aren't appealing. These rendering are representative of wow architecture at it's finest. It stands out; just not for greatness.

The Lululemon renderings have been around for a while... I'm not sure why it's getting attention now but I ain't complaining.

The Halifax proposal is beautiful. Although I do think that there was an opportunity for a tower of some-sort but I do like the midrise that complements the rest of the block.

And lastly I love the Niagara Falls proposal. I think that those towers are stunning and deserve to be built for such a predominant location. We deserve to honour the natural works of Mother Nature with architecture that commands respect.

Now whether all of these will be delayed due to the COVID-19 will be a whole other conversation...
