Abidjan skyline is surrounded by water. It looks nothing like the Ottawa perspective. It was a ignorant derogatory comparison against the modernist era like all the junk from the decades that followed up to now is any better.

Hopefully, Chad has a chocolate addiction.

I don't want to overplay it, but much of Ottawa (both in the CBD) and also inner but non-CBD government areas like Confederation Heights and Tunney's Pasture do have the look and feel that I would call "office buildings thrown up in a hurry in the 60s and 70s to house a rapidly growing public service" that is common in many parts of the world - it's especially prevalent in the capitals of Commonwealth countries. In both the developed and developing world.

As such, you can periodically get a bit of an "Ottawa feel" in places like Canberra, Australia, and surprisingly enough even in parts of capitals like, say... Windhoek, Namibia.

Of course which makes the choice of Abidjan even more perplexing. Zoom in Abidjan has its issues and that's why Chad chose it. It is the commercial heart in the land of chocolate. It deserves more of our attention. The alternative is hazelnut swill.

Wow never noticed how much orangey colour there is in Edmonton! Is it noticeable there in person? I've never been but always see skyline pics here, but for some reason in that one it looks like orange is a big accent colour on many buildings. Or is it mostly brick that appears orange in pics?

It depends where you're walking, but it's honestly not as bad as the picture makes it out to be — I think copious use of the saturation tool is to blame. Having said that, Edmonton does have a pretty distinct flame-orange kind of brick colour thanks to the local clay. Most of the building's pictured that are orange are brick, but it's worth noting that some are actually stucco. I guess that orange colour's kind of just stuck around as an homage, if you want to call it that.

Hahahha...That was a thing in the 90s and during the 2000s. This pic emphasises this tho. It's not as bad as this cool pic depicts.

Did they forget to paint the roof of the Pearl Tower white? The cap on it was originally painted orange, the developer changed their mind and went with white instead.

That view of Ottawa was most definitely comparable to the skyline of Abidjan. I did not even come cloooose to saying that the entire skyline of Ottawa looks like Abidjan. Relax already.
