I’ve looked into hosting events there. There are multiple issues that make it very difficult:

- the giant planters take up so much space that there’s very little room for actual assembly
- on the little space there is, there’s even less that can have tents tethered down for larger events
- this is a (1) provincial park that is (2) inside the city and (3) maintained by TFNP. That means if you want to have even a small event like say a wedding, you need a provincial park permit, city occasional event permit, liquor permit, and coordination with TFNP on waste/maintenance/power etc. If you want a public event that sells food, add on a health permit. It’s just not worth the trouble when there are numerous better options around (that aren’t on a quasi-freeway).

The wall and the light show are truly unique, I love it just because it is so unique.

The wall and light show are pretty unique and I enjoyed seeing them, but there isn't any reason for a repeat visit. An interpretive centre would be something new to see, but even better if something was actually going on the park and it was better connected to the Forks.

Other than the Provincial park permit there is nothing unique, special or different than holding an event anywhere else. You would still need a lease agreement (city occasional permit) and have to coordinate waste/maintenace/power etc with the location that is hosting your event so that it is TFNP isn't anything special.

And that is without even getting into the headaches if you need a temporary stage or a tent...

Just checked out probably the nicest GoodLife in the country – in a stunning old historic BMO on Stephen Ave in Calgary. Maybe they would have taken ours if they weren't committed to 330 Main lol

The slender nature of that tower would be ideal for hotel or residential.

That would be one of the best scenarios IMO. Either have it continue as a banking hall by another bank or credit union, or have it function as a lobby with 333 Main as a hotel tower.

I guess one of the drawbacks of an other bank moving into old BMO would be that the building is literally engraved with signage that it is the location of your competitor. Perhaps they could place some non-destructive signage across the top of the building to avoid the issue.

I don't think it would be an issue at all. There are heritage buildings where the names of previous corporate occupants engraved into the building were covered up in a sympathetic way - Union Station comes to mind as one example, but there are others.

What was covered up at Union Station? I guess they did a good job because I didn't notice anything.

Hard to see, but under the CN logo I believe it said "Canadian National Railways"... it's covered up by the VIA logo now.

Another example is the Oldfield, Kirby and Gardner Building on Portage. The firm name was covered up maybe 15 years go with the asinine "White House" sign.
