The firestone building has more details than people notice driving by, it's very interesting architecture. The Iceberg Grand Prix used it for support services, that's my clearest memory of the place.

This initially had some pushback due to the height from the area residents. Does anyone know if that is no longer the case?

Hard to make that case with Stewart across the street and Aspire a block to the south.

So is McKinley Green is going to be right next to the proposed First McKinley? We've seen the renderings for First McKinley, but I do not remember seeing them for McKinley Green.

Snell & Wilmer mentioned at our last meeting the newest renderings seemed to appease the residents. The building facade on 2nd Ave will be brick and pulled down to screen the parking garage. Structures are also stepped back on 2nd so to compliment the historic homes.

Correct, they are the same. TrueNorth took over McKinley Greene and it morphed into the current First McKinley.

That's why I was confused. First-McKinley map shows it at 816 N. First:
https://www.google.com/maps/place/814+N+...aaf493c94!8m2!3d33.4573729!4d-112.075511

Whereas, McKinley Green says 802 N. First, but perhaps it could eat up both lots.

The rendering appears to show they will be keeping the former McKinley club. So yes, this is the lot to the North and behind the McKinley Club. The original McKinley Green showed a tower built on top of the McKinley Club. Maybe the new project is to appease some locals that would have been vocal about it's destruction?

Yes, they are the same. The application had an Atlanta address which is for Sixty West Funds. They reference First McKinley on their webpage https://sixtywestfunds.com/sixty-west-fu...acting-both-residents-investors-in-2019/

Not sure I trust a website that states that Phoenix is the 3rd largest US city based on a 2017 estimate from Wikipedia. I'm sure it's a typo, but still had to give it some flack!

I spoke with someone involved with the project, and it is currently scheduled for a June construction start, although initial schedules tend to get pushed slightly. Sounds like Katerra will be building this one as well.

That's pretty soon for not having hardly any permits. Hope to see them ramping up soon. This would be a great project and with Derby and Aspire and will really make northern Downtown really start looking taller and more dense.

Also, in case anyone is wondering, yes I had my screen name changed from RonnieFoos to reflect something more Arizon'ish. Never did like my old screen name

Foos is an uncommon last name but my family married into it. Maybe we're cousins Crested!

Smells like these big moneyed developers are milking the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act for all its worth with these Opportunity Zone tax credits. I was never a fan of the Act but it has certainly helped Downtown Phoenix more or less explode.
