It would sure be nice if HRM could acquire a corner of the existing site to make that 90 degree curve in the road less of a sharp turn, and eliminate the left turn into the Costco site via the existing slip lane.

If they are going to continue to expand the park, I agree that they are going to have to invest in some improvements to traffic flow.

Lots of room for commuter rail easements up through the park if they ever want to think about easing traffic by that method...

It's not really a full fledged "hospital" from what I understand... mostly clinics and some dialysis.

I feel as though there could have been more accessible locations for this building, assuming it needs to be in this general area. For example, perhaps the NW corner of the Lacewood/102 interchange, across from the (current) Costco. Or similarly; 102 at Kearney Lake Rd. or 102 at Dunbrack St., especially if any of those will be served by BRT.

Yeah it's bad location. Seems very out of place with big box stores all around it .

It would be nice to have Lacewood Drive straightened out and continued up in around Kent to really open up into the new section... also it would be great to get rid of that awful turn at the end that currently exists with the horrible entrance to the existing Costco. I would love to see a map showing all the streets in the new section of Bayers Lake as well.

I agree, that section is not laid out very well, and that left turn into Costco creates a bottleneck. They could put a roundabout in there to link to Chain Lake without much difficulty.

‘No roundabouts anywhere, anytime’ is just Keith’s default position.

It’s all good, just as it is for me to disagree with him in this case. I think it would work well in this circumstance given the change in traffic patterns as I see it.

Regardless, what we post on a messageboard will have no effect on the outcome, as proper traffic studies would have to be done IF this change was ever considered...

They are an inherently hazardous and inefficient design, particularly in cases of high traffic volumes. Essentially a 4-way stop without the necessity to stop, but lacking the self-balancing characteristic. A 4-way stop is the worst intersection design by far but a roundabout adds congestion for all but the one point of entry having much more traffic than the rest, making it essentially a floating 3-way stop. Neither should be considered acceptable for main arteries.
