Stalled. Developer isn't even bringing it through the ULURP process because local councilperson is ultra-NIMBY. This project won't happen in the near-term.

Of course, the local councilperson also claims to be a huge advocate for affordable housing, which naturally explains blanket opposition to any new affordable housing...

Check this out!: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZHZRzuaLk1s They are redeveloping the top of 150 Central Park South. I'd buy this over something in 111 W. 57th Street if I had the money. Those windows! Those views! Spectacular!

For me these towers are a perfect example of the whole is better than it's parts. I can't really identify one element I particularly like - the cladding looks uninspired and the precast cheesy and ham handed, but overall due to their imposing height and their somewhat interesting site planning, seem to work. In a perfect world we would have gotten a partial adaptive reuse of the old 5P buildings worked into a massive fairly avant garde and sophisticated tower development that played homage to graffiti iconography in some way much like 40 Bond did several years ago.

I think they're hideous. We'd be better off if 5 Pointz was still there. Oh well, progress ...

I'd disagree. Things I appreciate about these towers: not a predominantly glass facade, stone facade, setbacks, and did I say stone facade? (Whether it's real or imitation stone is beside the point).

Patriotizzy, I think you would need to see the facades up close. There are already cracks and some of the facade looks like it's actually separating from the structure.
