Yes I know the park is by the Park Board, I just meant I want to see them both done, not that they are being done by the same people at the same time. I feel like the Concert building will do a lot but the park will really complete it

Thank you GenWhy? for the link. Not bad looking actually. It's weird that Concert would not put this up on their page: a handsome-looking building can garner more interests you would think.

With a lack of retail, Quebec would now be one very boring street. Not sure what the planners were thinking.

Little drunk bird told me last night of an upcoming open house in Olympic Village. More to come.

Any sense of when "more plans" will be coming together? It seems like most of the rest of the masterplan has been built and that the area north of First should be breaking ground sooner rather than later?

Pushed to Mid-March. Not Concert.

From ghost town to success story: The legacy of Vancouver's Olympic Village, 10 years on

After years of controversy, Vancouver's Olympic Village neighbourhood is thriving

Jesse Johnston · CBC News · Posted: Feb 17, 2020

At approximately 50 times the size of live sparrows, "The Birds" at Olympic Village in Vancouver are a much-loved attraction. (Stephanie Mercier/CBC)

Before Vancouver's Olympic Village became what it's now widely considered — a pretty but expensive place to live, work and hang out — it was the subject of heated debates.

Was it a ghost town? A shining achievement in civic planning? A financial disaster? A pinata for politicians to smack whenever they felt like poking the opposition?

All of the above?

Visit the village today, especially when it's sunny and the waterfront is clogged with parents pushing strollers, and it's easy to forget that this neighbourhood was once full of controversy and empty of people.

Local planner, developer and architect Michael Geller remembers when businesses delayed opening after the 2010 Olympics because there weren't enough people living in the area to support them.

"We suddenly had literally hundreds of empty units sitting there, hence the ghost town image," he said.

"There was nowhere for someone just to have a coffee."

There are definitely way more people there now compared to the first few years upon its completion, but certainly not the success as stated in the article. It is just a residential neighbourhood blessed by a waterfront location and the view of downtown: the star attractions in the neighbourhood. Other than that, can't think of anything that people would actually go there for.

SEFC Plan:
"Southeast False Creek is designed as a mixed-use community with a total population of 11,000 – 13,000 people, with a focus on residential housing.

As a complete neighbourhood – with the 2010 Olympic Village at its core – Southeast False Creek will have goods and services within walking distance, and housing and jobs that are accessible by transit."

I go down there often for walks along the seawall and around the birds.

I was really surprised how busy Mt Pleasant is during the day, it was just a non stop flow of people everywhere and food trucks, and lineups and the park was busy etc. Must be all the tech companies in the area. Driving around was a pain cause just so many people crossing the street lol, like move it along but just person after person endlessly at times.

They go there to appreciate the high density housing developments that aren't just tall, featureless boxes.

Yes it's very busy and getting busier, with plenty of new offices under construction.

Could it be stated that Mt Pleasant is formally undergoing gentrification? If yes, that would be a pivotal change in the city.

Its not been an area I frequented since about 2011, I used to park there to catch the Canada Line downtown when I was going to VCC at the time. Is like night and day how different it is now. It was always one of my favourite areas in the city, nice to see it full of so much life now.
