It's weird that you do so by (inadvertently) making his point for him, in an odd attempt at being sarcastic.

Regardless to that, he still has a stronger argument given that the case he's making is that there are in fact grocery store options and alternatives in the immediate neighbourhood and vicinity of TAB (within short driving or walking distance) such that another additional one within the complex probably wouldn't be necessary.

On the flip side, I believe his desire of a Chinese bakery is predicated on the reality that none exists currently in the area...AT ALL,...and it would be nice to have one at least, even there.

Key word here being CHINESE...... bakery and not just any bakery you would find at Whole Foods or which you literally have to go on a road trip for.

By me Saturday.

They have all of the "undesirable" hidden at grade units leased out:

TD Canada Trust, Johnston Meier Insurance, Eagle Creek Dental, Sporting Life on the north side side
Body Energy Club, Presotea, Express News and RBC on the south side.

You logic is that no need for real food on site because there is CHINESE bakery. If you need real food , just go off site to get it even though anybody who has been to Costco knows how busy it is. You circle around for parking and often wait 10+ minutes to check out. Whole food only across street even though realistically takes a lot longer to cross Willingdon, not only that unless you bring your car, very difficult to carry a week's grocery on foot. What about when it is rainy and dark like Vancouver in the last month, try crossing Willingdon with a load of grocery. If you are hungry go pig out on CHINESE bakery with its saturated fat and loads of carbs. You do not have the option to buy a balanced diet grocery on site, people like you probably don't know what balanced diet is because you can eat CHINESE bakery.

there is a Cobs bakery inside the old mall.

----

looking at this photo, this is where H&M will be going and it looks like they are nowhere near even working on the store interior. Maybe a fall opening if we are lucky?

No, that's not my logic at all.
You need to re-read my comment and understand it correctly this time and try to refrain putting words in my mouth that I did not say at all nor imply.

At no point do I imply that Chinese food (or baked products) are not "real" food, and any aspersions as to the "unhealthiness" or lack of nutritional value of Chinese food are yours and yours alone.
There's plenty of unhealthy food to be found in Western food stores - even in that Whole Foods across the street - so where this notion that there's only unhealthy food to be found ONLY in Chinese bakeries is bewildering to me.
But those are your paranoias and prejudgments and yours alone.
(or conversely, the idea that people don't likewise go to the Save-Ons, or the Whole Foods and the whatnots to get "unhealthy" snacks and junk food)

As to what I was ACTUALLY saying (as opposed to what's in your head or what you think I was saying), his desire was for a(nother) Chinese Bakery as one of the new retail units in the Mall (apparently there's one in the old Mall) as opposed to a Grocery/Food store of which there's several already in the near vicinity - even if not within your actual complex

Clearly crossing the street or driving barely a couple of minutes or blocks is far too great an imposition on your delicate sensibilities, and a burden far too heavy for you to bear, so much so that you MUST have a grocery store right within your very building and at your doorstep if possible, to enable you to virtually roll out of bed in your pyjamas and do all your shopping without ever setting foot outside.
As they say, First World problems.

Perhaps something for you to consider the next time you pick a place to live in rather than cause a big stink about it to people who can't do anything about it.
Or maybe just pay attention to the marketing material next time and don't forget that they often reserve the right to change their decisions as to which retailers and anchor tenants they eventually end up having in their buildings (from which you're also free to move out of anytime, if you want, I would imagine).

Oh, and by the by, "People like me" don't typically stress out too much about "balanced diets" (which I do have),....probably because in addition to (trying to) live a balanced life, I also try not to let things like the thought of WALKING to the store to pick up groceries (a.k.a what some would call "exercise") to cause me to fall apart and throw a conniption fit.

But then again what would "people like me" know, am I right?

Thanks for the updated photos. Too bad the architect did not design the mall such that the undesirable on-grade CRUs are also connected directly to the indoor portion of the mall. That would actually make them desirable. Again, planning problem I suppose.

Yeah, the 2nd level of H&M is just above the orange tarp.

The elevator bank for the Atrium (up to the plaza level and beyond, to the theatres)
is adjacent to the Sporting Life entrance, at the "P2" in this pic.
There is a direct doorway from that elevator lobby to the Sporting Life that is not open yet.
This open area makes the parking area feel more open (and safer).

The open plan may have originally been intended to allow Target to maintain longer store hours than the rest of the mall.

They just started to hire for more front line staff positions two weeks ago so it seems like they'll open sooner than later.

Adidas is hiring a store manager as well.

If anything, 7-11's are disappearing from this city.. so many locations have closed over the past few years with no new locations opening.

As for Amazon Go.. if that happens anywhere it would be in one of their locations downtown I would bet.

Ron.

That's why they bought 150 locations in Western Canada from Esso in 2016.
