When I see photos of a downtown street lined with tall buildings I automatically assume it's bustling at street level.... or at the very least filled with sights, sounds, smells, people, etc. West Georgia was a huge shock as one didn't go hand in hand with the other. I didn't feel like I was in the heart of a big city whatsoever.

You may be used to tall street canyons that are dead and underwhelming but I'd never ever encountered one before. It never occurred to me till I visited Vancouver that one could have tall buildings yet still not manage to have a big city feel. And you don't need shops to achieve that. West Georgia was a big disappointment.

Yeah it's a good example of the concept that height has nothing to do with density or urbanism. A lot of West Georgia Street is basically towers in a park, with not so much as townhouse podiums as street level. A strange direction to take what should've been one of the city's flagship streets.

I remember when the Manulife Centre, the Hudson Bay building and the CIBC building dominated the Yorkville skyline...

I remember driving into Toronto late one night in 1996, and thinking the Bay and CIBC buildings at Bloor and Yonge were really pretty tall.

Was at the auto show at convention centre and took this showing another perspective of the drab green and blue colour palette. Would be nice to see more colours and styles during those grey winter days.

Couple years ago it was brought to my attention on here that Toronto acts as defacto Canada. Hadn’t thought about this before but it’s called the Canadian international auto show not the Toronto auto show.

Interesting how views can be so polar opposite. In that photo there there were 100+ towers visible but it's the only one I like. The rest bore me to tears.
