And personally, I'm glad it's not going to become the ultra-lux high end fashion district it that was envisioned.

This is going to be a cool mall with great eateries that foodies will flock to.

A supermarket to rival Whole Foods, but that isn't Whole Foods, will be icing on the cake and is what should come next in phase II, where the current presentation centre is.
I see the SportingLife spot everyday and how quiet it seems and think, "what a missed opportunity, should've been a grocery, right next to transit too. Geez."

please, stop it.. stop all of your wishes about grocery stores and bank branches. you guys must be nerds in real life.

theres more to life than buying your daily produce & withdrawing cash from an ATM machine

Geez... why is grocery store a non- topic? People eat everyday, be it restaurant or home cooked meal. The thing about grocery store and banks for that matter is all about all inclusive master planned community. Life is busy enough, so that you do not need to spend more time hopping all over to do basic essential chores. In the end you have more leisure time to enjoy living.

I guarantee you a place sell faster and rent faster , at a better rate if there is already a grocery store on site. People will not exactly jumping up and down to rent because there is Sporting Life downstairs.

Then take it up with Shape.

I'm not arguing that a grocery store wouldn't be a good idea. But there are also multiple grocery stores within 5 minutes or less drive/ walk from Brentwood. So it's not unimaginable as to why they aren't jumping on this right away.

I will be moving in and I personally have no problem walking across the street or going for a drive for groceries (like most people in this world).

But seriously, move on. It's like beating a dead horse..

Are they re-installing windows on T3 to a darker tint? Or perhaps it's dust from construction on the earlier levels making it appear lighter..?

go sell your assignment and buy a place at Kensington Gardens or Silhouette if you want a grocery store. Shape never promised you that there will be a grocery store during presale.

I think it just looks darker as they haven't yet painted the concrete white.

You see we have what appears to be a kinda dead mall in a busy and big intersection along major thoroughfares, with also what appears to be a newly opened dead retail spot (this may or may not change in time). Just sayin' a grocery would probably help, just as it had helped probably every forward-thinking major mall that has one.

I get off transit (and I don't need to cross the thoroughfares to get home..) thinking, oh, would be nice to have a grocery right at this corner so I can get things done at the soonest possible time. No stop light hassle in such a busy intersection, no running around crossing major intersection back and forth blah blah.

Or I drive past Lougheed/Willingdon whichever and see that spot and like oh cool, lemme park now since it's on the way and do some grocery what not here, pick up my CanPost parcel in LD, grab some Timmy's, do some banking, check out a shoe store or Cole's, etc. without having to do the run around driving/parking/driving again and eat up even more of my precious time.

Even Cactus Club the one near the gym/Save On is moving to TAB (if indeed it's the same.. I may be mistaken). I wonder why???

Makes one think SOLO and the other building that houses Save On had got it right. There's a Save On right across, yet SOLO opened Whole Foods. Not saying every building being built should get a grocery but it is a nice to have, especially when the spot has been rather dead since TAB construction or maybe even earlier. Kinda trying to help them here. After all, it's not just TAB residents they're trying to attract as customers are they? I live nearby but like a post several pages back mentioned about their family member going to Metrotown for groceries despite the fact Whole Foods and Save On being nearby, I go all the way to Metrotown for grocery sometimes too (as well as online) as I get more things done there that way. A grocery would have been a win at phase 1.

Also, I don't mind being called a nerd (after all they now rule the world... Lol) but I could do without the name calling. I see many topics here where I think give it a rest but I respect people having to express their opinion without offense and I don't bother whining/calling them out for it (except for one case most everyone agreed on and user is now banned). It is a forum after all. It's been around years and I expect several topics to come up repeatedly.

Anyhoo... I'll try and make this my last wish-there-was-a-grocery/what-a-missed opportunity-at-TAB post. I'm sure it'll still work out with other places opening. I look forward to the eateries/restos for sure.

There are always mean people out there, and name-calling is just a knee-jerk reaction when these people are incapable of forming suitable words to say: so just ignore the jerks and bullies out there, and not be intimidated to say what you want, especially something that bears no ill will to others.

As for Sporting Life, I think they opened prematurely. Retail synergy is necessary for all retail businesses to thrive. That is also one of the reasons why so many businesses fail when they are far-flung from high foot traffic volume areas. You are also right that there should be a grocery store, but big anchor stores like Sporting Life are also necessary because ultimately, they all complement each other in a mall. Well, the crowds will come: it's just a matter of time. Just bear in mind that huge sections of the mall and residences are still under construction here.

While everybody appreciates a clean design, am I the only one who finds those towers pretty boring?

I certainly appreciate the lack of sea green glass towers.
