Crane up at Surrey Central parkade by SFU. Looks like they're adding levels as they planned to. Could be a sign that the plans to develop the east side parking lot are coming down the pipe?

"The additional 1.5 levels of the parkade will provide sufficient flex parking surplus to allow for the demolition of the existing level 3 rooftop parkade and the future phases of the Central City Masterplan"

https://www.surrey.ca/bylawsandcouncillibrary/PLR_7919-0097-00.pdf

I suspect they will redevelop the portion of the mall fronting Holland Park first, T&T / Club 16 / rooftop parking area. The master plan calls for a new entry plaza on that side, which can be created once this parkade expansion is done.

Isn't the entry plaza on the south side of the mall eventually slated to connect north towards civic plaza?

North Surrey rec centre doors will close for good this weekend
The city plans to replace the building with a mixed-use ‘Centre Block’ development

https://www.surreynowleader.com/news/nor...-doors-will-close-for-good-this-weekend/

Hopefully we get details on the redevelopment soon and don’t have an empty old building sitting there for years.

This site is ideal for a couple 60 storey towers!

We should see an application on this site early in the new year.

Plans have been well underway for a couple of years. Expect mostly Office (Surrey's new tallest office tower), Retail, and University uses, all integrated with a revamped Surrey Central Station.

Will be great to see that new application. Any idea who the developer partner is?

Also, there have been some rumblings about the Safeway site on KG and 104...

I'm wondering if the new Surrey PD budget constraints will affect the YMCA getting up and running.

Have not heard anything on partnering developers. I've just heard rumors that the Federal Government may be a major office tenant as part of it. Aligns with news earlier this year that they are looking to create a government hub in Surrey City Centre.

Would expect that Safeway site to not be too far behind this.

Bosa's 3-tower mixed-use project with Perkins + Will across the street on the former Brick Site just went to ADP in November, and should be heading to Council early in the new year. Expect to see some significant height on that site.

Clarification please, when you say new tallest office tower, do you mean taller than 3 Civic or taller than the current crop of exclusively office buildings like Coast Capital?

Sounds exciting.

Taller than the current office tower proposal just down the street?

I don't think a height is necessarily confirmed yet, but from what I've seen, it will include an office tower taller than Central City.

Are there any plans you can share regarding the upgraded Surrey central station? I recall you saying a while back it'll be even more integrated with office/commercial than New West station.

Is the site owned by CROMBIE REIT?

If so, Westbank perhaps?

I wonder if the Safeway site would be ideal for a stadium type project.

A 10,000 seat stadium/arena would fit nicely there.
