Is it just me? Whenever Line 1 (TO) is about to reach Eglinton, I always hear, “Next station is: Edmonton. Edmonton Station.”

Three new stations proposed by councillor Gian-Carlo Carra to be added to our existing network.

The government of Ontario announced a Southwestern Ontario Transit Plan, which isn't really a plan yet, but it had some positive ideas for SW Ontario. One of the ideas is adding London to the GO network. Talks have already taken place between the government, VIA & freight operators to improve the rail lines. Who knows what this will look like, but it's positive that cities outside the GTA are getting some attention.

O-Train Fans, a "railfan operated enthusiast website", has started adding entrances, fare gates, fare vending machines, elevators and escalators to station facts.

So far, these stats have been added for Parliament and Rideau.

Parliament has the highest number of both fare gates and fare vending machines, at 21 and 9 respectively. Rideau has a 15 fare gates, very much adequate for its ridership, but only 4 fare vending machines, quite low for such a busy station heavily used by tourists. Rideau has an astounding 18 escalators due to its depth (26.5 meters).

Parliament's Concourse level:

Rideau's platform level:

I cannot wait to experience the system on my next trip, for it looks incredible.

----

Meanwhile in Edmonton, the proposed gondola from Whyte Avenue to Rossdale to Downtown took another step forward by releasing more information about its feasibility plan.

A few numbers:

600,000 - expected annual ridership
3,000,000 - total trips
$120,000,000 - estimated cost to build

0.1 kWh/KM/passenger MAKING IT ONE OF THE MOST ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY MODES OF TRANSPORT

12 MONTHS IN CONSTRUCTION TIME THAT'S TYPICALLY NEEDED

2k CARS NEEDED TO TRANSPORT THE SAME NUMBER OF PEOPLE AS ONE GONDOLA

99%
Reliability Rating
COMPARED TO OTHER MODES OF TRANSIT

They don't even have a map on that website? Or any concept drawings?

I'm never a fan of public transit infrastructure being in private hands but if it can be built with private dollars without some absurd demands of the city, then it's a no brainer. If it ends up going bust then it's no big deal as either the city ends up with free infrastructure or it won't be too expensive to demolish.

Keep in mind that the City wants to complete a 'central circulator' system, with LRT being proposed from Downtown to the UofA and down Whyte to Bonnie Doon Mall to tie into the Valley Line...

~2.25 billion

A few express-buses, this Gondola and our innovative https://www.highlevelline.com proposal for streetcars from the south gondola terminus to LRT Downtown at MacEwan University/West Valley Line...

~<500million

Looking at lightrail's list, Edmonton's network seems a bit smaller than YYC and Ottawa considering similar population. Though YEG APTA ridership is similar, accounting for neighbouring municipalities.
Ville Quebec, Hamilton, Winnipeg all have plans or real BRT. Hopefully all communities keep investing (or we get free transportation from Google while we're inundated with ads in autonomous vehicles though this won't solve spatial problems of how much land car infrastructure takes up).
Southwest Transitway Phase 2 in Winnipeg was completed last year and will be put into use Thai April. With the new Transitway there will also be new routes and more buses. One of the new routes will run through my neighbourhood on a fairly regular daily basis and I’m happy about it.

I feel that in the next decade a LRT will be planned or it will start to be constructed. If not people are probably going to complain why we don’t have LRT when we have close to a million people living here...

Winnipeg really just doesn't know what it's doing when it comes to rapid/mass transit to be honest.

Reminds me of those topographical models you sometimes see made out of corrugated cardboard or thin strips of wood (not in a bad way)

Looks good. Sort of clean, bright and simple.

If Winnipeg's rapid bus transit evolves similar to Ottawa's, your transit way will most likely be eventually converted to rail. The rapid bus transitway here was a good success story, but during peak times there were lines of buses. Ottawa needed the rail. At least the ROW will be in place for Winnipeg when they do go rail. It's a good start!

One word of warning. Don't emulate Ottawa. BRT conversion to LRT is very disruptive and expensive.
