Would be even cooler to have a Costco liquor store.

I didn't know there was a Safeway liquor in BC!

I love the Costco liquor pricing in Alberta I have to tell you. Makes BC prices look like highway robbery, which it is.

thats strange cause people in Alberta complain about the prices and say BC is better for pricing.

It's at the Burquitlam Safeway

The Kirkland Signature products at Costco Liquor are amazing value. *sigh*

For wine? Impossible. Use your BC Liquor app to compare with Costco shelf prices and you'll be blown away. Easily 25-30% less on most product.

That and the BC prices in the app exclude pretty hefty sale taxes.

Interestingly enough I've heard Sobeys was considering making the redeveloped Davie location an "Extra" similar to Burquitlam as the store is going to be somewhat larger, but it probably would not have a liquor store since BCL is opening back up once the redevelopment is complete.

Would make sense to make this location an "Extra" especially if they are really are considering closing Robson & Denman.

Why are they considering closing the Robson one down?

Redevelopment?

They probably figure they have a captive West End audience, who will just venture to the larger Davie store once it's opened.

Only competition for that section of West End = NoFrills, and it offsets losses to Fresh St. Market at Vancouver House

Nothing surprises me when it comes to Eastern management of Sobey's and local Safeway decisions.

There's an Independent Grocer on Davie. It's quite popular.

That location is my favorite franchise in the YIG system, it's quite small and probably serving at capacity though, especially recently grabbing some Safeway Davie customers, it is cheaper than Safeway, just a step above NoFrills.

Urban Design Panel Urges Vancouver To Reconsider Decision To Leave 46 People In The Elements

128 East Cordova Street – DP-2019-00895 – Harbour Light
Normally I’m the only person, other than the panellists, who sits through the entire agenda of an Urban Design Panel review. This time was different, as for 5 hours I sat next to individuals from Corrections Canada, the Salvation Army, and the rest of this applicant team. Their hope was to learn how to prevent the panel requesting resubmission of these 254 shelter beds, 46 low-income homes, and a kitchen that will provide over 500,000 meals a year.

That may seem paranoid, but this application has faced several delays, including a lack of quorum at this panel and the Gastown Heritage Area Planning Committee (GHAPC). As the evening dragged on, I overheard the applicants worry they would once again be turned away. Yet when this project finally came up, city staff stressed the need to act quickly, acknowledging that an election could halt funding from senior levels of government that is flowing for the first time in decades.

A few more workers on site today, including the crane operator. With the jackhammer work they're doing, it appears that they're cleaning up the concrete pour joints, preparing for pouring more concrete.
