Medallion is looking for funding in the form of tax relief to remove the contaminated soil. Hopefully the City moves quickly to approve this as they also did for Rygar and McCormicks lands.

I hope it goes thru. I rather like the design and in order for that inner city area to prosper they need more residents and 600 units is a big number.

Of all the developments currently planned, started, possible in London... I believe this one (and all the others that are forthcoming that will eventually fill out the site) has the greatest potential to be the most transformative for our city. SOHO has incredible potential. It's fairly clear to me that the City believes that. The money that has poured into upgrading Horton St. is remarkable and encouraging. The Planning Department has put an incredible amount of work into ensuring this development gets done right. I often took my kids over to see the demolition work on the hospital when it was being carried out and now I can't wait until the construction begins. I've only called London home for 15 years... but I think there is a new energy in this city. And I think the vision for SOHO (and downtown for that matter) is representative of that.

They should do themselves a favor and rezone all the hospital lands on the site now with high density high rise residential plus ground level retail commercial.

Save themselves and future developments alot of time by pre zoning the lands now.

There's a long shoreline between Colborne St and the Forks. I would be surprised we will see a riverfront promenade or whatever it is they want to do there connecting that whole stretch, ever, let alone within a few decades. First off, if any of these people look at an aerial view, there are a lot of trees along the river and that is going to be a huge problem convincing people those need to be ripped out of there. Then there is the small matter of the London Hydro lands being in the middle of that area. We last heard about LH moving about 8 years ago when Joe Fontana brought in Larry Tanenbaum's company to deal with the land "quickly, we don't want to wait" lol and nothing said since. It will be a huge undertaking to build up the north side of the river that far and I can't understand why a builder would put so much emphasis on a piece of riverfront well over a mile away.

So they just proposed a 24s for Dundas St on the same block as their other 3 towers. Do they start on the South St towers before the Dundas St?

My guess is the South St towers will start first, they've been in the process for longer so it's likely they'll go before the new Dundas St tower.

I think they do Dundas first. I just feel like with them already having built on that site, that things will progress easier with the city and that it will be a quicker, easier build to get done. Are they even free and clear to start work at South St now, or is there still more approvals or neighbourhood fighting to deal with?

I believe Medallion still needs to acquire one of the properties: The U-Need-a Cab.

I think its a toss-up currently which proceeds first. The south street site has been silent since before the election in 2018. Haven't heard of any other projects for the other pieces of the property from city hall. Medallion was the only developer announced to date with a proposal. Surprised that the big London developers haven't joined in as of yet.

This update on the OVHL properties decommissioning states that the city is transferring the lands for this Medallion project over to Medallion in "early 2020" and that the city is expecting the project to begin construction in 2020.

CTV news today has a story that excavation has started on these buildings. However the artist rendering shown does not match the one we have seen earlier. Hopefully the density and height has not been reduced by Medallion.

Ya... I just walked past the site and there is indeed the beginnings of a hole. The picture in the CTV article looks NOTHING like what was shown a couple years ago. It's an entirely different development. I'm more than a little shocked. If anyone can find out more info, I'd appreciate it.
