Unfortunate it's starting out as a 4 lane road... really no reason for that.
Seems that they heard... FWIW they amended the article:

Correction 9/12/19: I previously misinterpreted a phrase in a press release sent by The 78 developer Related Midwest to mean that the Wells-Wentworth Connector to mean that the road would be a four-lane “stroad.” The Chicago Department of Transportation has confirmed that the roadway will instead be a more people-friendly street with two travel lanes, turn lanes at some intersections, and “anticipated parking lanes,” which is good news. Apologies for the mix-up; the article has been edited accordingly.

It's hard to get a good idea of how far along they are, but tons of dirt being moved for sure. Sorta reminds me of an airfield being resurfaced

Down Wells. Continue the Orange line underground, connecting to Lasalle St and then running down along Wells with stops at Riverline/River City, Roosevelt, a couple stops up in the 78, and then connecting back up with the Orange Line at 18th St. In the morning, they can run the Brown/Orange line from the Kimball to Midway.

Obviously, this is a fantasy, but if you are already digging holes, why not dig one there just for the sake of future development?

^ Actually this was part of the 1968 transit plan. The Chinatown feeder ramp of the Dan Ryan would have been extended as a four-lane expressway up through The 78 site and points north to connect directly to Lower Wacker. That expressway would have had a rail line in the median connecting to the Loop or some underground version of it.

I'm glad that part never happened, or we probably would have had auto-oriented development on The 78 site long ago.

Wow, you managed two RI trains and a train on the SCAL. Impressive. Maybe next time you can get an Orange Line and a Red Line train in there too!

Isn't that a north bound red line train with the lights on?

Just need to find an orange line train.

All these mega projects. I wish more building would be going on with all of them..

I can't imagine a professional marketing team would come up with the term "sidescraper"...
