Looks like closing Fir would cause more difficulty to traffic flow, and the street network of FCS needs to be reconfigured in a lot of places to encourage walkability (some places are basically cul-de-sacs).

But aside from the buses, Fir isn't very busy north of Broadway.... Anderson is, because of the traffic in and out of Granville Island, and (due to traffic calming) False Creek South. So all those cars and trucks would switch to Fir and you'd get congestion anyway.

Makes a bit more sense to close Fir and extend Pine through Molson to Senakh instead.

Fir north of Broadway is already half a homeless camp let’s not close down traffic and push it the rest of the way there.

West 7th ≠ all of Fir. If you go down 6th to 1st, it's quiet and mostly used by pedestrians.

Looking at the other renders and plans that more seems to be just an issue with that one particular render / perspective.

Would quite astounding if they can actually complete the entire project by 2026.

The Squamish Nation's website calls it the "Senakw Project" so why not just go with "Squamish Nation - Senakw Project."

Great read the Tyee article. So reading between the lines this is the same kind of a scheme as this oldie that pops up every few years https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/trans...orts-studies/vancouver-island/fixed-link

There are a lot of points to work out and funding being a big one as the main source of funding in the city is from foreign investment. And the fact that there is no legal way to recover any funds if things go south will hold back many from investing and or bidding work.

The no parking will be a one of the hurdles that will need to be overcome. And the fact is they are designing this project without saying what market would have me scared.

Westbank has outdone themselves on the green washing with this development.

That's next level, trees growing up the building and onto the roof now too.

Don't get me wrong - I wish this became a reality, it looks amazing. It just wont turn out anywhere near.

Goes to show how bad regulatory control can be for Vancouver's business growth. This project will highlight it even more.
