Too bad this apparently isn't the design, I like it better than the previous ones!

On the East facade, The shape is basically the same as the model that Yimby posted but for the base and the lack of diamonds. Also, the sections on the north facade don’t protrude as much.

Most of if not all of it had been remediated when the building was gutted 8 years ago.

I had a meeting at 383 a few days ago; But sadly, I wasn't able to make my way to the other side of the building to see whats going on at 270. One Vandy looking majestic AF.

New Rendering For JPMorgan Chase’s Future Midtown East Headquarters At 270 Park Avenue

Quote:
Last month, YIMBY posted the first look at plans and renderings for 270 Park Avenue, which will become the future headquarters for JPMorgan Chase. The structural behemoth will become one of the largest office buildings in the Five Boroughs upon completion, totaling 2.5 million square feet and rising approximately 1,425 feet to its pinnacle. Today, we have another look at the project thanks to visualization firm ATCHAIN. While this image is the most refined of what has been revealed to date, differences in the silhouette between this version and the one leaked in a JPMorgan Chase report accompanying YIMBY’s last post indicate that this specific version could already be outdated relative to the previous reveal.

Despite the possibility that this rendering is out of date, the design and detailing are perhaps the best close-up look so far at the potential plans for the tower. The massing consists of a series of rectangles stacked next to one another, gradually receding in a nod to the classic setbacks that have typically defined the Manhattan skyline. Foster + Partners is the architect of the future supertall.

The ATCHAIN rendering also depicts a lack of diagonal crossbracing, which are a major feature of the previous reveal. In this version, the facade is striped rather than criss-crossed, and the massing is also slightly different from the version featured in the JPMorgan Chase collateral, with more setbacks on the eastern side as compared to the western side, and the bulk of the building positioned slightly further west. Despite these cosmetic changes, the profile is still fairly similar overall to all imagery YIMBY has so far featured.

270 Park Avenue is replacing an extant structure designed by Skidmore Owings & Merrill’s Natalie du Bois, and its demolition will be the largest intentional razing of a structure in New York City’s history. Scaffolding is already in place, and removal of the antiquated tower is already underway. The old skyscraper should be completely disassembled by the end of 2020, at which point work for Foster + Partners’ new headquarters should be ready to commence.

No firm completion date has been confirmed for 270 Park Avenue as of yet, but if demolition of the old tower is finished by the end of 2020, a 2022-2023 estimate for topping-out would appear reasonable.

I like the slightly more symmetrical initial rendering much more.

Thank goodness the crosses are gone! I really disliked them.

That's an old rendering.

Personally, I love the cross-bracing.

Who the hell knows at this point. I don't really think anybody does even if they say they do. I just wish Chase would just release the renderings already. As for the "cross bracing" I'd been perfectly fine with them biting the dust, especially in that goofy diamond configuration that makes the tower look like a giant argyle sock.

I'm fine with either version but the most up to date is most likely the one with cross bracing since the base reflects the agreement with the city.

I don't know about this new rendering not having the new base configuration. I can sorta see an angle to the silverish facade on the base there.

The ATchain renderings have to be old. The gold base we saw in the rendering is also the same as the design diagram that was leaked. That diagram I believe was dated from July, months after JP Morgan announced they were redesigning the tower

The most likely would be the one we've seen two models (and a graphic) of.

Could signify some cost cutting if the ATchain renderings are the real design. With the cross-bracing removal. In terms of the purpose of the tower, which is a new HQ, cross-bracing looks nice design wise, but does nothing in the end. More of a architectural perk if pulled off right.

Sad to lose the cross bracing (if that is the case) but the tower is still very attractive.

If everything on that site is current, then it's bad news for Chicago, as the proposed tower at the Tribune site will be a copy of 432 Park, and it's great news for NY because, despite news that the NY-NJ Pa Bus Depot will not be razed and replaced by towers, apparently, it will be replaced with supertalls and a park.

I sure hope that the seemingly old, obsolete projects on that website are up to date and viable.

That was an old concept for the Tribune East site I believe, we recently saw the updated design from the meeting and it's basically the same one (with fins).

As for 270 Park I like both designs, but something about that ATchain rendering makes it look really nice.

Dam I like this version. To me the elevator buttons on the side didn't really add much. Can we finally see an official rendering of the current design already!?! What's the dam holdup?

That's what I was getting at. Everything on their site is out of date.
