You have help in Ontario once diagnosed however, many families in Toronto are forced into an out of pocket position on assessing their children's needs. It's not cheap.

How the facility looks isn't as important. Access is as important as the facility. Hopefully, Alberta is 2 for 2.

We're more acute to mental health illness than we were when I was a kid. Still, I don't think it's enough to make up the difference. It's definitely becoming more common with each generation.

25 Mabelle. I don't like either of them. The balconies are confusing and that's with the nicest curtain wall panels in the nation. Podium doesn't do it for me either. The first two floors don't compliment the brick clad floors.

It's an expansion. The facade is terrible. The design isn't much better but that Calgary hospital makes me want to turn to stone. I don't see Teeple being involved.

The Calgary proposal is a hospital in the suburbs while the Edmonton Library is an attraction in the middle of it all. It much much worse in that case.

The Calgary medical facility may not be pretty, but it's fine, I really could care less about it's design for it's function is more important....even though, sure, the cladding could be better. (Though really, it sounds nitpicky....unless you mean if this design creates interior space issues, which well, we don't really know).

As for the Mabelle avenue proposal, the design isn't my issue, even with a render that is over optimistic on material choice....but it's just too dense and tall....more so the latter. Their revision isn't much of a modification in that regard, this still remains a building with nearly 500 units going into an already well expanding area of the city. I can't be surprised with this proposal, but these kinds of projects just tend to create more single bedroom homes, with a limited release of larger suites for families to be quite comfortable (townhomes...and well, some families can work for a two bedroom, not arguing they can't).

That Toronto proposal sure looks a lot better in my opinion. Quite nice, actually.

The bottom half reminds me of some of Daniel Libeskind's buildings, the cladding makes everything feel a bit off though.

I can't find an interior photo, but I do know there's an enormous open space like 4 floors high above what's called the "civic room". It's not too bad.

However, the original proposal for the library expansion was amazing in comparison, just remembered this...
