Sorry.... I did not mean to say that it should not be done; rather that there has to be a better way.
I tend to agree with lrt's friend in that so many of the ways/methods we currently use lead to more hazards for more people than I think is strictly warranted.
And before you ask me how, or a better way, I do not know. But to make an accommodation situation worse by mis-interpretation or mis-use is not a help.
Those flexi-bollards ARE a hazard, and there needs to be a better way.
My use of the term Nanny State is in this connection, not in the not-to-do-it connection. So much of the N.S. is a mis-guided and fail-state interference in doing it right.
