However, your point about automation - this isn't a car plant in ON we're talking about....but there is about 0.0000001% of automation in the patch....like the Floor hands on a rig....some of the larger, newer ones are going "Robot Floor hands," so that's 2 guys per rig = 100 jobs lost in AB. I believe some of the larger dump trucks at the oilsands are converting to "driverless." But yeah...I'll tell all the guys from MB up here working that they're all out of a job ok, cause there's f*uckall jobs there to say hi....

City aims to eliminate Yellowhead traffic lights with 66 Street overpass.


The project, expected to begin construction in 2024, will turn the north-south street into an overpass where it meets the Yellowhead. The city’s ultimate goal is to remove traffic lights along the Yellowhead by 2026-27, creating or modifying a series of interchanges.

The city’s Kris Lima, director of the Yellowhead traffic portfolio, said the east-west route is currently a “hodgepodge” of unusual intersections controlled by traffic lights.

I'm not lol'ing about that gong show. This has all the hallmarks of a bureaucracy perpetuating itself, and that should piss every tax-paying person in the city. There is no excuse for this.

I swear that Bureaucracy 101 is called "How to Protect and Perpetuate Your Job, Even in the Absence of Reason". Those graduates wouldn't last five minutes in the real world.

When the Yellowhead conversion project was approved it was laid out pretty clearly it would take until 2026 to be finished. They'll be going section by section, not the entirety of the project at once. I'd expect this section is just scheduled later on in the process, since it won't be as intensive as some of the others.

Other than the 87st area, there is other work ongoing. It is just not on YH. side roads are being realigned around 142st and 149st to accommodate the new closures. 149st north of the YH is getting a major rebuild. I do think 149st should be a fly over though.

From my perspective, this is one of the top, if not the top, priority for uninterrupted vehicular flow. Am I missing something?

Yea, you are and it's not because it's hidden.
This has always been a long term plan tied to both logistics and funding. 66st was in discussion if it should be closed or not.
Now they've decided not, based on community feedback, this over pass is being put into the overall program.

What's so hard to understand?
