Actually they return every 4 years.

There's a website and everything:

I see my house! And the first place I lived when I came to Toronto over 30 years ago. It's really remarkable how much of that U of T stuff wasn't there then.

Even that historic football stadium is gone. It was more important to the sport of football than Maple Leaf Gardens is to hockey but too late now. At least there's still a football stadium on the site. Football's very first game (yes, the Americans imported this sport from us not the other way around) was played at University College, University of Toronto on November 9, 1861. University College is 2 fields up from the current stadium.

Projects York University Stadium – Toronto, ON

SCI Architects provided masterplan services on this 25,000-seat stadium. The project was intended for year round use, with outdoor seasonal use extended by use of an air supported bubble for the winter months.\

I don't recall seeing this one in the past.

What is it with Ontario stadia purposefully designing 2 stands that don't look the same? There's Ivor Wynne (Hamilton), TD Place (Ottawa), BMO (Toronto), and now another Toronto stadium with the same thing.

Eskimos should change the tarped endzone seats to a party deck like the Riders have at Mosaic with the Pilsner party deck endzone seating. Gets rid of a lot of useless unused seating while still looking better than tarps. Bombers should do the same too as they don't need 33,000 seats only need 28 or 29,000

BMO and TD Place are because of the differing timelines of those stands being built. TD Place has one side from the old Lansdowne Park with the arena underneath, the other side was demolished years ago and replaced when the new CFL team was awarded. BMO started as just an MLS stadium and the capacity wasn't thought to be needed at the time the stadium was built and was expanded. Regina and Winnipeg also has different stands on either side of the field as well, I imagine for the same reasons. In the picture above of the proposed Argos stadium at York, one side had suites and the other didn't, which is why the 2 sides are different. Tim Horton's Field in Hamilton also has suites on one side like that so the upper tier sits higher than the upper tier opposite.

^^ I completely forgot the NHL Heritage Classic was playing in Regina last night, but I did read it in The Guardian this morning.

https://www.theguardian.pe.ca/sports...d-jets-368556/

Everyone saying it was the perfect weekend to hold the event, it was +19C in Regina Friday, a cold front from Alberta passed through yesterday dropping the temperature to +9C Saturday but by the time for puck drop between the Jets and the Flames at 8pm last night it was just below 0C.

The Regina Pats and the Calgary Hitman play a WHL game at Mosaic Stadium tonight before the temporary ice rink is removed while the temperature warms up for the Riders vs, Eskimo game at Mosaic this next weekend.

Last night apparently was the first regular season NHL game in Saskatchewan since January 24 1994, and the first time NHL teams faced off in Regina since September 17, 2013.

Heritage Classic seemed like the perfect fit with Mosaic Stadium second to none in Canada,
and Regina's legendary hockey history recognized.

Regina's CKCK was the first radio station to ever broadcast a play-by-play for hockey in 1923. The Regina Capitals came within one game of playing in Stanley Cup the year before, the Regina Capitals would eventually move to Chicago to become the Blackhawks a few years later.

https://leaderpost.com/sports/hockey...cap-for-regina

NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman at International Trade Centre luncheon in Regina called Saskatchewan a "great spot for Heritage Classic" ,the first time a city without a NHL team to hold the event. When asked question of whether or not Saskatoon was on expansion radar, Bettman said no but "never say never".

I was just reading an article on the financials of the Landsdowne project and there was a slight mention of the the north side stands not offering the same experience as the south side and that they should be replaced. I have no idea or concept as to what that would mean or how you could accomplish that especially with the arena underneath. I would think that would mean the destruction of the arena although there was no mention of that.

And why were you reading the Charlottetown Guardian? Are you on the Island at present, or do you have Island roots? I vaguely recall you have some connection to Halifax & Moncton.

I'm originally a Charlottetonian. I'm just curious..........
