Lmao. Yeah ok.

Anyway, back when I was on job sites I would come across them sometimes. and if ever I wanted to see them I could simply ask someone who had access to them.

Why would the average orange vest be bothered to ask even if that were the case?

But hey feel free to come to one of my job sites and set me right.
You don't know how it works. Each trade is given a PDF that contains all drawings, including architecturals. Every trade is going to print up at least 1 copy of arcs to have on hand, as they contain valuable information. So yes, Joe smo orange vester has easy access to architectural drawings.

They have a set of drawings on site and they will typically be in the command center (that container makeshift office they typically set up at the edge of the building sites above the covered walkway that act as the site HQ).
The site manager or construction manager will have access to them*.

As will the average orange vest guys if they need to consult on some info. for some discrepancy or something (which they typically don't need to do).
But they don't move them around the site for good reason and it's highly unlikely that any of the orange vest guys are going to stop what they're doing to walk you up to the command center to get you the information you need anymore than it is that the site manager is going to willingly pull them up just because some random schmuck coming off of the literal street wants to know something about the project.
Occasionally you might have a supervisor with a couple of sheets of drawings at a different part of the site checking something directly but rarely do they let them leave the command center.

I mean think about it.
It's like you're walking into someone's literal office (which in this case this does act as their office), and asking them to dig through their file cabinets for some information that they have no idea what you're going to do with it.
Throw in the usual CYA/liability issues and paranoia wherein no one will want to be responsible for any information given without authorization and that will probably make it that much harder to just ask and get what you want.

More likely they will refer you to the developer or give you their contacts and have you get the information that way.

* In larger projects and worksites they'll even have computer workstations set up so they can access the actual CAD files from the engineers or architects rather than just the printed drawings.
I know that in Vancouver House project they did exactly this to the office part of the project and they set up a whole bunch of computers to use to view the digital and CAD files and computer models of the project.
You could even see them from Granville bridge if you were walking on the part connecting to Howe Street in that part of the podium closest to the bridge with all the computers and printed drawings.
And more and more worksites are now starting to replace (or complement) the drawing sheets with tablets (Microsoft Surface or Android) loaded with the computer CAD files instead since they're more portable and you can have entire sets loaded inside them rather then loads and loads of printed hardcopy sheets.

Excavation isn't even done yet, and the crane hasn't been erected yet! So as per forum rules, this project is not considered under construction yet! It should be soon though as it's pretty deep!

A good laugh. Hopefully, you weren't serious.

Have more luck with Burnaby's building department with a random ask. Or just wait until Google Earth is updated.

I'm not convinced so I'm going to clear this up. Rifling through someone's desk is just too stupid. Why would an orange shirt go out of their way to help a stranger on the street or that any orange shirt ...particularly in public view ..would be close with someone that has the information. I'm not suggesting the drawings are necessarily top secret. They simply are not something you share with anyone that doesn't need to know.

I wouldn't even call it need to know. I've been on job sites before, and I've seen drawings left all over the place, sitting on boxes, or a pile of drywall, even in the trash in an alley at Broadway and Granville.

Emailed then about the height change, they responded with this:
Quote:
Thank you for your interest in Highline. The height change is to accommodate a hospitality offering on the lower floors of the building.

RE : the discussion/debate about drawing plans at worksites and getting information from orange vests.

It just occurred to me;
Don't we have an actual orange vest guy who posts on this forum (Zepfancouver)? He's usually on a different thread where he was working on that project (The King's Crossing project), and his specialty might have placed him in a different part of the project, but it would be interesting to find out what his opinion would be on the subject and how normal it would be for one of them to just give out project information (or look it up in project plans on site) for a civilian on the street.

What better way than to hear it straight from the horse's mouth (so to speak)?

With the room prices at atrocious level in Vancouver and decreasing number of medium range hotels in Downtown core, building a lot more hotels in Metrotown makes a lot of sense. No worry about parking and it's an easy SkyTrain ride to Downtown.

Elements hotel in our building always has a full parkade and guests I have met at pool seem to all like it for those reasons.

Totally agree more hotel space in Downtown Metrotown gets the from me! Maybe a few like say 2 high-end hotels would be nice to add some diversity of options and I am still hoping for in Metrotown and or Brentwood to get a large trade and Convention Centre when it comes to wanted list items!
