Interesting. I doubt that they will get a candidate with all of those qualifications especially a masters in engineering.

Excavation has finally started. Some top soil is stripped. One shovel on site and a pile of rubber tire blasting blankets.

I'm glad to see something going up on the site, but wish we were still getting the original design.

It's a very tasteful palette, and won't age badly in my opinion.
There's a lot of visual clutter along that stretch of Richmond - I think a clean looking building with good quality veneers and glazing like these renders is great for this site.

Maybe some stone cladding on the podium would give it some more weight and visual interest, but whatever.

Looks nice in the render. The grey brick is boring but not offensive. For me, it always reminds me of more institutional architecture, particularly what we see at Carleton. In the end, it will come down to the glass.

...or maybe they will have a last minute change of heart and swap out for the same yellow brick we see at Lebreton and Envie!

The approved elevations are slightly different than the renders - large mechanical penthouse added. Updated the height/floor count.

Would it kill the architect to include some colour accent?! The recently completed Nuovo on Rochester Street is also mostly grey, bit it also has white framing and red accents -- however subtle the red areas may be. Life need not be all grey or beige. Yuck.

It's the same as Brutalism, except with grey brick and glass! (All his works are the same grey colouring). Should be nice and depressing come winter when the skies are grey too).

I agree with others, RLA need to start coming up with better designs and use more colour beside grey, white, black, and beige (though not that lime green like they used on the highrise on Gloucester they did).

Crane went up today. For the 1st time since I moved to my condo 3 years ago with a western view there are 2 cranes on the skyline. The other barely visible is Brigil Baseline.
