No, they're office space over retail. Only one of the wedges that's attached to the tower is residential.

I believe that was the only wedge that was being referred to, notwithstanding the poster's use of the word “wedges." In places it’s only a few feet from the busy bridge deck.

You might be right. Technically the residential units in the wedge attached to the tower are referenced on the plans as the podium, and they're 95 rental units, but I think there's still retail at grade. I wondered if the reason for the question was because the office wedges have opening glazing that matches those on the residential units.

Rental is from floor 3 and up from the plans and the top level next to the cooling tower seems to be all empty. The level below it just has some apartments on the south side near Beach Avenue.

Just noticed the London Drugs (drug store) is listed as the bottom of the wedge next to the Seymour Street exit ramp.

Those plans also say "BCLS" below the Food Store - is that a BC Liquor Store?
If so, it'll be a big one.
.. and the London Drugs will be small.

Modern LD stores with a pharmacy and a bunch of new bells and whistles are at 20,000sf. So it's not too far off their current design model.

I'm just thankful the bigger units are not all taken up by banks or other financial offices.

I counted about 8 retail businesses in total: that's actually not a whole lot. However the bigger stores will help bring down foot traffic from Granville Street and Yaletown to help out those usually quiet businesses along Beach Ave.

For rezonings the City is increasingly taking "office" out of mainfloor uses within the "Retail" permitted uses in their CD by-laws. There is some compromise but it's taken them long enough. They're taking a bigger stand to keep banks / office off corner CRUs.

yes it would! The one on Pacific Blvd. in Yaletown is tiny and has no Cold Zone.

I was at Momofuku in Washington DC a few years ago. I'm not much of a foodie, but my sister suggested I go there. Had the ramen. According to my chat history with her, the ramen was nothing special, but was quite expensive for what you get. Perhaps the NYC location is different, but I wouldn't necessarily label the DC restaurant as legendary.

I've been to Momofuku's grill restaurant in Toronto, "Kojin". I took clients there and was seriously underwhelmed. Maybe the noodle bar here will be better, but in my opinion, the premium ingredients don't necessarily elevate things -- you can make a perfectly delicious bowl of noodles with low brow ingredients. Still, I'll be curious to give it a try!

Oh, that would be a policy that's in my good books for sure!

However, as per the Vancouver House maps in the city website, there is a corner triangular unit (main podium block, south side) that says "office" even though it is originally meant to be a retail unit. I wonder what business that is.

I've been reading comments about it on facebook and the majority of them said the one in Toronto wasn't that great, that the one in New York was great, we'll see how they do here, there is a lot of good ramen places here.
