And for serious foodies, as I mentioned in the Vancouver House thread David Chang's Momofuku will be opening there next year.

I like David Chang but I'm not sure he's adding much more to the ramen scene than what Vancouver already has plenty of.

That other "5d" restaurant though...

looks fun. AR is really taking off.

There are some cool shirts and the store itself, Hipanda, I saw in Japan when you scan them with your phone they do things and you scan the flooring etc with an ipad they give you to walk around with and the store comes alive, and I saw some SuperM T-shirts that come alive too with a phone. Pretty neat

Just saw them hiring people on FB. I suppose this needs serious training for all the technology happening in the restaurant, on top of the basic F&B service provision.

Milksha bubble tea from Taiwan is opening their first North American location next week on Robson Street. They fly in their pearls from Taiwan for their teas.

Bubble tea places are growing like crazy. there is a newer development in kingsway in Burnaby that has a Bubble Tea place, there are about 5 retail spaces in it, and there is a Coco bubble tea place opening in it as well. Thats like crazy right? How do they all survive and often they are next door to each other or only a few doors apart,

The bright lights and huge signage really takes away from QE theatre and is imposing on the plaza.

Well everyone is pretty much staying so it's mostly a name change.

I assume they had to pay some sort of licensing fee to Jean-Georges Vongerichten, so they will save that by making the new space "in-house". I hope they keep the balance of attentive but unobtrusive service and good dishes, Market did it better than most.

Faubourg in Kerrisdale has rebranded as 'Plethore by Faubourg' which seems to mean they're doing more bistro fare.

Some outstanding food and as always with the French some very odd 'service' at times one never quite knows.

Blaze Pizza (955 Granville Street) closed at the end of October.

Blaze Pizza was great in quality but sadly Granville Street is full of Pizza by the Slice Places which kill good restaurants in the area. Granville Street needs more quality restaurants than not so great Pizza by the Slice Places like Romanos, Megabite etc..

Yeah it didn't really fit the street, Blaze seems more friendly for families and they don't really go to Granville street, would have been better on Granville down near hastings maybe, or near the convention centre. It does well in the family-friendly suburbs. Granville really needs an upgrade it feels pretty crappy again.
