I assume you mean Viger and Windsor (unless you meant Parc?) Central station is just fine and the interior is unique imo, the only problem is the exterior. One would never guess it's a train station.

Rideau Street proposal, to the east closer to the Rideau River and Vanier. Th design seems simple and elegant. Nothing too fancy, but a good addition to the area and skyline.

I like Central Station as a concept, and for it's engineering ambition and for it's history. I even love it for it's shyness.

The hideous parking bunker though is another story. I can't believe anyone thought it was a good idea.

I find the interior about as unique as any high school gym built around the same time period.

Shyness is perfect. Too bad it wasn't conceived and built 20 years later. Full modern futurism instead of the deco, early modernism hybrid.

I actually quite like Central Station. It's just too bad it's tucked away between several buildings. It's impossible to find unless you know where to look. I don't even know if there is a way to get in from outside (as opposed to the RESO). It was quite an interesting building before it was hidden from view in the 60s. They had at least maintained spaces on each side to let the light in, but this new proposal will block off the south side.

Montréal doesn't need a new station, but a proper entrance to the existing. Build a grand new entrance between the Queen E. Hotel and 800 René-Lesvesques, facing the revitalized Place Ville-Marie plaza.

I actually really like the interior, I pass by there every day and it has a real metropolitan feel to it. The exterior is admittedly a large high school. Which I now accept and have come to love.

Hey Chad does Calgary have a historic train station that is now used for something non-train related or do its historic station(s) no longer exist?

In fact, it is one of the finest streamline modern interior public space in the city.

That project is not even touching Central Station. There is a street between Central Station and the parking where these towers are proposed.

Unfortunately our central station on the still-operational CP Rail tracks downtown was demolished to make way for the Calgary Tower. That was our main station. The CN Rail station is now the headquarters of the Alberta Ballet, and no longer has trackage. It's also a very underwhelming building.

Proposed rezoning for 17-storey residential tower in Oliver

https://www.edmonton.ca/residential_neighbourhoods/LDA19-0327_Urban_Design_Brief.pdf

October 9, 2019

Edmontonians are invited to a drop-in public engagement session about the proposed rezoning of property at the northeast corner of 102 Avenue NW and 121 Street NW.

Date: Wednesday, October 16
Time: 6 – 8 p.m. (drop-in, no scheduled presentation)
Location: Robertson-Wesley United Church, Memorial Room, 10209 123 Street NW

The proposed rezoning would allow for the development of a 17-storey residential tower with street level commercial uses and underground parking. An amendment to the Oliver Redevelopment Plan would also be required to reflect the rezoning.

The meeting will be an opportunity to learn more about the proposal and provide your feedback to the City and applicant. Feedback will be summarized in a report for when the proposed rezoning goes to Public Hearing.

A residential tower approximately 54 metres (approximately 17 storeys) in height
A maximum of 138 dwellings
A maximum Floor Area Ratio of 7.0
Row-housing style dwellings fronting onto 102 Avenue, 121 Street and the adjacent lane
Limited commercial uses at the corner of the102 Avenue and 121 Street
Underground parking

Winnipeg might not get the same quantity of development as some other cities, but most of what it does get is of a pretty high calibre. Strong design culture in that city, it seems.

That Indigenous Hub is too overpowering on the existing building, that tall building could use a chop...other than that, it's okay, but packed by Toronto terms.

I'm a bit more concerned about the Forest Hill project...it's just too massive for the area and site. It sets a terrible precedent IMO for any new development, and is quite tall considering the context. I expect some locals will have similar issues...

Indigenous Hub... whatever that is ... is great. The Forest Hill proposal is not.

this is one of those renderings that people hold up in five years when the project is built and ask, why doesn't it look the same? (see Edmonton Library)

evening renderings with invisible glass should be outlawed. where are the columns holding up that 100 foot high curtain wall? It is a complete lie....glass reads black in the day, so what does it really look like?

....also....why is my twitter feed filled with Albertans complaining about how bad everything is and wanting to separate from canada because of how terrible the economy is? I wish Manitoba was struggling like that.
