If I were to guess, based on how long it is for me to walk to a part of downtown, and a part of North York, both of these areas being in the midst of both cores.....I'd say at least 18 kilometres...though that's just a guess.

The furthest North you can see there looks to be Yonge & Eglinton which would be ~7.5 km from the Lake.

Comparing the meaty parts of the skyline though, from the Lake to the Four Seasons in Yorkville is 3.8km according to Google Maps. Something equivalent for Chicago could be from Soldier Field to the North end of Gold Coast at North Avenue. That measures almost exactly 5 km.

And after a breather north of Y/E, North York appears (didn't make it into the pano). Would be around 15k from the lake. Don't think Chi-town has an equivalent, bearing in mind some gaps in tall built form as T.O. heads north.

No. It's 5 kilometres between Erskine and Harrison Garden. It's 8 kilometres between Erskine and the lake. North York Centre's skyline cannot be added in any way.

Chicago's is 27 kilometres long.

You're not making sense. There's a continuous line of high rise in Lincoln Park. There's 2 or 3 high rise in the entire length between North York and Yonge and Eglinton.

I would say Toronto's has surpassed Chicago's in length now.

Interesting. J'ai toujours pensé que c'était du côté nord du canal. Il m'est jamais venu en tête que ce serait du bord de PSC, surtout considérant la nature très engagée des résidents du quartier.
