I saw that, looks pretty cool. I much prefer the view of this building from the North compared to the South. I find the balconies don't look that great....not sure why just IMO.

Kind of reminds me of the modications at Claridge Plaza I and II .. Originally the corner penthouses with the rounded living rooms were going to have two-storey living rooms, which would have been bonkers for the one with the northwest view.

that's actually interesting since i thought the malhotras were planning on taking that penthouse unit for themselves. My understanding was that they wanted to move from their 2 units at 700 sussex. Claridge was also talking about moving their offices to the mixed-use floors at Icon.

A real estate agent told me recently that single family home values in the area increased by about 7-10% since 2018, so that is consistent. The “rumoured” (Ottawa Citizen 2019-10-01) Farm Boy and LCBO might help boost that even more!

Still hearing that the Claridge office are moving in. 6000 sq feet is a lot of room so maybe they decided it was too much? Here's hoping a Farm Boy and a LCBO are not too long in arriving. Would be nice to buy wine and the making for a fresh Italian homemade dinner in Little Italy.

I don't remember any of the renderings showing such dark glass on the crown....it's actually unexpectedly nice contrast to the rest of the building.

I was way out on Ogilvie by the Aviation Parkway and was surprised to see this building jutting into the sky from that far away! Pretty neat!

Having said that, I then drove by Icon later in the day, and have to say, I'm not impressed with the materials. They look way cheaper -- especially the glass -- than in the renderings.

I agree. The building doesn't look very appealing to me. It looks very cheaply finished on the exterior. I wonder if the interior finishings will be of the same cheap quality.

That's not dark glass, that's just the protective film covering up the teal paneling underneath

It's amazing to see what the same architecture firm can accomplish in Toronto when the builder buys custom materials instead of the cheapest off-the-shelf they can find.

The Toronto example is far superior however, Icon is still one of the most interesting skyscrapers in Ottawa. Not to defend Claridge because they've built some terrible buildings with no excuse (Andaz, Claridge Plazas) and the materials don't match the development application, but there is a lot more money to be made selling condos in Toronto than Ottawa.

From the West coming down Carling you can really start to see the balcony design taking shape. From 1km+ it looks spectacular. Up close is another story. GFFFFG

Not sure if it was more than a rumor before but there seems to be for sure a farm boy going at the bottom of this development. Heard it from the architecture firm working on it. Also they’ve put a Claridge sign at the top of the building now. On both north and south sides.

I have never heard this rumor before. It would be a great spot but I don't see any space large enough on the ground floor for even a Rideau Centre sized Farm Boy. I am curious about the sign, that would be a new move for Claridge.
