I would kill for that Vancouver day above right now! Looks like a great fall day. PS, good to see you back mcminsen
I love me some fresh, cool and wet Vancouver fall weather. It looks like Seoul is going to finally cool down this weekend, so I'm stoked about that.

And yes, nice to see your posts here again, mcminsen.

Woke up and it was -9C. This better be the end of this Arctic shenanigans until December.

Looks like the next 7-10 are shaping up to be dry and gradually getting warmer. Possibility of returning to the 20s as well.

Low of 20.8 this morning, we have a good chance of a 20+ low as long as thunderstorms hold off until tomorrow morning.

Also a chance of 30 degrees today. I expect my locale to hit 28 or 29 with high humidity.

This could be the last hot day of the year, though we usually get several 20+ days in October.

EDIT: now my station has reached 30.1 with humidex 40.7

30.7 with a humidex of 39. Insane heat for October. Smashed our previous record for this date which was 29.5.

For some perspective: the average high for this time of year is around 17.5. So currently an anomaly of + 13 degrees. If we had the same anomaly in July, it would be 40 degrees (obviously, these sorts of extreme anomalies are much less common in summer.
).

The heat has not reached us, it's actually the coolest day it's been so far this fall. It is however supposed to reach us within the next few hours, but it should not go above 23C and that's around 7-8 pm... Actually I just checked and our high should be around 10 pm.

Just got back from a walk during my break, and it actually felt like it warmed up in the last half hour.

The Ottawa valley is always like this. A big ol' soup bowl.

I'm ready to give up. It's been so cold. We are usually afforded a great fall. It may not play out in the stats, but I am used to being warm and comfortable outside during the day well into October. September was — and it's still cold.

I'm already wearing a pea coat.

Toronto hit 31.8C today feeling like 39 with humidity. This means today is the hottest October day ever recorded for YYZ.

I knew we had quite a bit of rain in the Winnipeg Region this past month but I didn't realize we had set a record!

https://www.theweathernetwork.com/ca/news/article/manitoba-sees-rainiest-september-on-record

152 mm in the month of September.

Two falls in a row, we really can't catch a break. Not only has it been below average the past few days, it's been well below average, though I think it may have warmed up a little bit today. But it's looking like single-digit highs for most of the week. Our average daytime high this time of year is around 13 degrees.

St. John's seasonal lag heading into autumn isn't as pronounced as you would except considering how long it seems to take for spring and summer to kick in. Fall seems to happen inline with most of the country.

The lag is about when it's warmest or coolest in St. John's though, not how warm it is compared to other places.

These climate characteristics are easy to roughly model in simple math terms. The year-round climate is like a sine curve. "Seasonal lag" is an x translation. Warmer vs. colder overall conditions are a y translation. Milder vs. more continental climates, overall variation, amount to multiplication by a coefficient that squishes or expands the curve. All 3 factors affect the temperature at any given time of year.
