“We also have room for phase three that will eventually come online probably within the next two to three years is kind of our normal development cycle when we add new phases. That’s an additional 65,000 square feet which will bring us to almost 400,000 square feet when completed,” said Thurlow.

“It will probably be around 2022. That typically would be our time frame. Normally what we want to do when we build a new phase we let that phase kind of bed in for a year or two. We monitor performance, make sure we are where we want to be, start leasing up already behind the scenes prior to the phase even breaking ground and then we would pull the trigger on the next phase.”

Poliform Furniture, in partnership with Aeon Group, has launched a 5,000-square-foot two-storey mono-store in downtown Vancouver. Poliform Vancouver joins a vibrant downtown retail area between the Financial District and Downtown and is seeing 20-30 people coming in daily.

Located at 779 West Pender Street, in the former FedEx depot (closed 2017) and across from the popular Starbucks Reserve in CF Pacific Centre, Poliform Vancouver is in an ideal high-traffic location. The new location employs six full-time persons and affords the brand access to more resources, designers, architects, builders, developers and homeowners on the west coast than ever before.

There was also one at North Van on Marine. They had the best 50% sales for all their stuff. Heard the store chain is from NZ.

Yea they were from down there. They had one at Metrotown too across from Station Square, I think it's now a sleep country store.

Is Scotch & Soda opening in Yaletown?

That would be a very odd location for Scotch & Soda, I would expect either Robson, Pacific Centre or Gastown. Yaletown doesn't really every get first-to-market international retailers, don't think it would be a good location for them.

it could be an office. I think Diesel has an office in yaletown despite having no store here. There is a scotch & soda store in Richmond Centre.

It was A&B Sound for about 20 years.

I came across this article about Crystal Mall that I found interesting. I think I've been in a grand total of one store there, which is pretty odd considering how often I've walked right past it.

They should do one on the Richmond Public Market. It's basically the same as Crystal Mall now but I wonder what it was like when they opened.

Yaletown ought to have lots of clothing boutiques from the get-go. It's just not enough CRUs planned in this area for a critical mass to be successful. If they do open up a Scotch & Soda, I do hope it's a brick and mortar store there, and not just an office.

Similarly, the Casino entertainment district as well as Vancouver House also have potential to be local retail hubs. Unfortunately, again not enough CRUs had been created in the recent developments. Such a shame.

Clothing stores haven't done well in Yaletown.
There isn't / wasn't enough customers during the day to support the stores. But that was probably before many of the condos were built.
Remember Mark James and Le Chateau in Yaletown?

Restaurants seen to work well for Yaletown as they are open after residents return from work (or as a destination for the City).

Apparently Mavi Jeans has only stayed in Yaletown because the owner also owns the building it's in; otherwise they would've closed up shop years ago.

Indochino interestingly enough did move from Gastown to Yaletown but they might be considered a little different than a traditional B&M clothing shop

Yes, I'm quite aware of that. There was a time where there were a lot less people living around the neighbourhood, and Yaletown wasn't served by Skytrain. Things can be different today, but unfortunately planning for retail in the heydays of construction wasn't the best: producing the lacklustre retail scene we see today. Yaletown needs an anchor shopping centre for all kinds of retail, including clothing, to take off.

I remember a Ralph Lauren store at the entrance to Gastown. That has to be few decades ago though.

Yeah, at the Landing.
There was also one on Robson, wasn't there?
Maybe where The Gap used to be, and where Muji is now.

yes Ralph Lauren was on robson when that building was still set up like a mini mall. I remember long lineups on boxing day to get in.
