So the Launch Event is at 10:20 am? I haven't seen anything publicizing this. That's a full 3 hours before unceremonious public access. I'm hopefully suspecting that if line ups start to build up that they might secretly push this earlier to manage the initial surge better. After all, the system has to be fully up and running well before 2pm and it's not like they'll flick a switch and it's on. It would be way smoother if they just quietly opened the gates an hour or two before

Yes. I am aware. My every 15 minutes was worst case scenario. Even when it is every 8 minutes, there is lots of time to log in, if it is necessary to do so every time.

It is common practice to announce an opening time later than when they actually open in an attempt to mitigate crowds.

A different magnitude I know (at least I hope we don't see that crowd level

), but look at the opening of Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge at Walt Disney World. On opening Day, the park opened a whole 2 hours ahead of the scheduled 6:00am.

You only need to log in to the wifi once.

The media event ends at 11, then there's the inaugural ride maybe 1130-1230 and maybe a bit of time to clean up the event setup at Tunney's and perhaps launch a few more trains for service.

Commercial grade access points can handle that kind of load. It isn’t as if we are the first transit system to put Wifi in their stations. Besides, it is in Telus’s best interest to have it work well. They will want to keep their name good in the public’s eyes.

Got at on at Cyrville at 13:57. Really happy for Ottawa. For all my wishes on how this could have been better, what a world of difference compared to the old Transitway. The excitement from ordinary folks is what has convinced me, all the delays and change of plans are totally worthwhile.

I was really happy with my first ride. i guess my only comment is that the lighting seems kind of on the dim side on the trains.

Having it go East-West means so many people will use it. And that I think is part of so much of the excitement. They've also done a great job with launch with all the attendants. Also saw mascots taking pictures with kids at Rideau station. Nice touch.

Just finished taking it end to end. I'm quite impressed, more than I was expecting to be. I know it's been said a million times but the city feels different when you're using this system. Especially getting out at Rideau. It's a new way to experience the connected neighborhoods, ones that I feel I've known for a long time.

Welcome to the sense of 'node-neighbourhood' or 'station-community'.

It is something I have long missed since coming here from Montreal.
It is no longer a -distance- or -effort- to say, while at Blair, 'oh, I need something at Rideau' and be able to hop over, get it, and hop back.
Taking a bus between was costly in time, effort and distance. Now - not.
The perception is totally different - to the good.

YaY !

NB: I am not referring to the rest of the OC network.
They need to improve the bus frequency, all around, BIG time!
