is the granville street entry going to be moved from the corner? it was so awkward that way, a nice central entrance would be better for flow into and around the store.

Probably not, as there is an elevation change with the hill down Granville.
If it was further north they would need stairs to enter the store.

Googled and saw this H&M in Singapore - the design may be across various stores...

That one lights up...so we shall see...

EDIT - yes, the pleats are on their flagship stores worldwide:

West Hollywood, California

H&M Retail Store and Custom Facade
The H&M store on the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles had a novel whit folded, lighted, panel façade treatment developed by Andrew Ojamaa in conjunction with H&M and local fabricators.

I wonder if the Pacific Centre store will get the staircase...
I can't tell from McMinsen's pics if the panels on our store are perforated to let light through.

More likely they'll have flood lights at the bottom shining up.

Those places do not have disoriented birds that get confused with City lights: Vancouver does. So yeah, no lights for H&M.

Walked past today and I didn't see any perforations.
That's a loss for Granville St. (if not lit) - especially the dull end north of Georgia.

The Pacific Centre retail expansion was approved at Development Permit Board on July 8th, it is now fully entitled.

Just a guess, but I'd say construction will begin some time on January 13th of next year.

May I agree wholeheartedly. (?) A lot of people knocked it, but I very much liked the glassy, airy Rotunda.

It's a leaky, drafty, echoey, dated piece of junk, but to each their own I guess...

https://dailyhive.com/vancouver/pacific-centre-christmas-tree-lighting

There's a mention of new decorations for the mall.

I noticed that Canaccord Genuity has a new logo.
Will we see a change in signage atop the Canaccord Tower?

From Retail Insider

Quote:
Max Mara’s relocation in CF Pacific Centre is part of a bigger scheme that will see some big changes in the shopping centre. The Four Seasons Hotel, which has operated at CF Pacific Centre since the 1970’s, is shuttering this month and the building will be repurposed, with details to follow. The hotel had an entrance directly into the CF Pacific Centre shopping complex and the retail units adjacent to that entrance will all close to make way for redevelopment. That includes a Siba jewellery store located opposite from the former Pomellato location. To the south of the Four Seasons Hotel building, a new Apple flagship store is said to be opening at the northeast corner of W. Georgia Street and Howe Street, replacing an igloo-shaped glass dome which over the years has become an iconic component to the CF Pacific Centre property.

New hotel a “leading global hotel and entertainment brand”
The owners of CF Pacific Centre, Cadillac Fairview, announced Wednesday that the soon-to-be vacant Four Seasons Hotel tower will be rebranded with a new “lifestyle hotel brand.”

Cadillac Fairview says the new hotel will be “a new hospitality and entertainment offering reflective of Vancouver’s current stature as a premier tourism and business destination.”

The Four Seasons Hotel will close at the end of January 2020.

“With today’s announcement we are once again contributing to the fabric of the city by introducing an exciting and vibrant hospitality concept to our landmark property that will solidify it as the destination of choice in downtown Vancouver,” said Tom Knoepfel, senior vice-president, western portfolio at Cadillac Fairview.

“CF Pacific Centre will be home to a leading global hotel and entertainment brand that will be unique not only in Vancouver, but the rest of Canada. We look forward to providing more details about this exciting project in the near future,” added Knoepfel.

There’s no timeline yet as to when the new hotel brand would begin operating, or if any renovations will be undertaken.

A Cadillac Fairview spokesperson told urbanYVR they’ve had discussions “with a number of [hotel] brands.”

Interesting though, that the official CF release uses the word "site", not "premises", "tower" or "building".

The new hotel would occupy the site currently being operated by the Four Seasons Hotel. The hotel chain will be ceasing operations at the end of January 2020, making way for CF to welcome a new hospitality and entertainment offering reflective of Vancouver’s current stature as a premier tourism and business destination.

They're probably being careful in the press release to keep options open, but the CF rep's commentary in the BIV article makes it pretty clear it will simply be a renovation to the existing tower: https://biv.com/article/2020/01/cadillac...-four-seasons-vancouver-new-luxury-hotel

"Knoepfel's company intends this spring to conduct extensive renovations on the 30-storey former Four Seasons hotel building, which connects to its Pacific Centre shopping centre.

"There are extensive amount of work that would need to be done to prepare the building," he said. "We look forward to the building opening as soon as possible."

Was the primary issue here not the low ceilings due to structure age?

This would be a big project, curious what the actual scope would be.
