Really!!!

They already have a three level parking garage in the building.

How much parking do they need!

Seems like costly move considering the building appears to be far from full... considering the number of houses and then building a parking lot you're probably looking at over a million dollars.

Well its $150 per spot per month for underground parking so more surface parking is needed badly.

There is significant digging happening at the corner of Amirault and Fox Creek starting yesterday. I haven't heard anything about a development here. It's certainly a large enough footprint for a decent sized foundation, but it could also just be a stormwater pond since the area is pretty prone to flooding.

Anyone with info?

Finally got the DJI Tello over here to take a pic. I'm noticing the foundation isn't exactly matching to the original plan. Seems smaller on the left side and not exactly a square "L' shape. Anyone else?

Rumour is that the Elan Apartments on Dieppe Blvd is planning a second similar building in behind the current building, oriented at a 90 degree angle to the current building (to be built roughly where you can see the backhoe on the left edge in the photo below).

There is a new mini tower crane which has just recently been put up on the south side of Amirault Street at Fox Creek Road.

I imagine this is for new apartment construction, but does anyone have any information on this? It's a pretty big lot.

They have done substantial digging here for the past few weeks - I would say too much to be just for a foundation or even underground parking. I have heard from multiple people that this some kind of water pumping station, although I can't confirm this.

Given the location of this worksite, immediately adjacent to Fox Creek, a pumping station makes perfect sense..........

I believe this is a new sewage pipe crossing from Dieppe to the new sewage treatment plant in Riverview, including a pumping station of course.

I can confirm this - and exactly as you mentioned. The site has already been prepped and should start construction in spring/summer 2020.

Dieppe is piloting a park and ride system. Details can be found here
Not sure how this will work as they are limiting it to residents so if you don't live close to a bus route you could use them.

Dieppe gets full marks for their imaginative efforts to get people to use the bus.
That being said, they will need all the luck they can get. Their previous efforts involved free cabs from outlying areas to bus stops. It flopped. They also tried a bus that went direct from the city to the DFO/UdeM/Dumont cluster. It also failed to entice riders very much.

It's a nice idea, but I'm not really clear on what Dieppe is doing with this one. These areas already have free parking. I'm not clear on what the difference is. The only thing I see as an advantage is if you work at one of the few areas downtown, like Blue Cross, where they don't have much or free parking. Aside from this small subset of commuters, I don't see an advantage. The same could be accomplished parking at the mall, and taking the Blue line down Main. The issue is, I think that almost all commuters in Moncton have access to free parking for employees. I just don't see this as a significant enough value-add for most people. Maybe I'm wrong on this, but I don't think so.

I think the idea is reduce traffic congestion in the morning and evening by removing cars from the road. They are trying to shift people from a car dependency to public transit. If more people took the bus then we would need less parking downtown. If more land was available for development then we could have more businesses downtown. If we have more businesses downtown we attract more people to the city and we need more public transit and so on. It is a good idea, I'm not sure people are ready for the shift yet, but it is coming, whether people are ready or not. Is this the right way to do it, time will tell, but without more advertising and incentives it will be hard to convince people to give up their car.
