Yes, it looks like three of them have been erected, no?

You can also see the curved walls of the restaurant getting formed.

You can see three of those larger beams sticking up.

They need to work on making the west side of Main Street a bit of a destination. This project is a great anchor for that. Hopefully the Winnioeg Hotel will be the next step. To actually feel like you’d enjoy walking from Upper Fort Garry to Portage and Main is going to be a big psychological change.

All those Delta Beams are sitting in a work yard on Lagimodiere and Warman Rd (SE corner), visible from the highway.

Looking at the last cam shot, now that the steel is going up and the building is taking shape, I would imagine that it would be quite tall and slim compared to the Trizec, Artis, TD building.

Office buildings can have wider floorplates than residences, so that's probably true. Offices can have cubicles, meeting rooms, common space in the more central parts of a floor plan, but in a condo or apartment, every unit needs as much window as possible. So at some point, the larger you make a floorplate, the deeper the units, but the less relative exterior exposure the units get ie the space by the windows gets used the most. Furthermore, bedrooms also need windows, as does living room space.

So now your units are getting huge as they get deeper and your cost goes up for space you don't particularly value.

In larger cities, there are siteline/sunlight regulations in place that mandate the maximum floorplate size beyond certain heights. I think 300 Main is thicker than most new approvals you'd see in Toronto or Vancouver.

^^This will really fill that "gap" in the skyline from this angle. Great to watch the progress on this building, thanks for posting this!

The restaurant space will be getting a big rooftop patio on top of the podium.

Thanks Biff! I appreciate the effort. It's nice to see it in context. Renderings never really capture the full picture so I always like understanding the overall effect of a building. I really like that it looks noticeably taller than 201.

That doesn't look like such a bad photoshop job to me, in fact it looks pretty good but not as good as the building will look hopefully

That Canad Inns shot outshining the hotel signage is really in poor taste. Have they turned off the Radisson sign?
