But the miracles of the Concordia PUD don’t stop there — another apartment community is in the planning phase at the northern empty tract directly east of Sabina, though site prep isn’t yet apparent here.

The details here are a little fuzzier, but we’re looking at a six-story, 320-unit building by local developers Wayfinder Real Estate, and it’s from that firm’s website we find the single available rendering of the project, going by the name Troubadour.

The AULCC page was updated today, and it lists a project at 419 Colorado (Block 43) that would occupy three lots at the southeast corner of 5th & Colorado. The businesses that would be affected are Chinatown, Lonesome Dove, Searsucker, and The Phoenix.

Might as well since that whole area on the east side along Colorado between 5th and 4th has pretty much been wiped out. Sure why not go ahead and let the final axe fall.

I think it's time to push these developments to incorporate entertainment venue space in their projects if they are taking out existing establishments. Something more than just restaurant or retail.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of this. I also wonder why developers don't seek the vacant lots in a neighborhood first before settling on an occupied lot. Supposedly, though, the Phoenix has been closed for some time. There are two other comparable lots just a few hundred feet away.

The Block 43 project includes the three buildings immediately north of the closed Frank's (I don't pay my taxes) hot dog restaurant. The Walmart Tech Center moved in to the one adjacent to Frank's in February 2018. I also thought they expanded into the middle building later, but I can't be sure. Microsoft became part of the project in November 2018 to work with Walmart to help migrate Walmart's internal systems to Microsoft's cloud storage platform. The empty Lonesome Dove is probably going to be a further expansion of their joint offices.

Hey guys,

Would there be any interest in a public-facing (and free to use) website that shows all these construction projects on a map, with map pins color-coded according to project status, and mouse-over details for things like photos and latest developments and so on?

Basically, all the information that The ATX regularly compiles in the sticky thread, but embedded in a Google Map.

I've been itching for another side project, and since I visit these forums regularly, I figured I'd ask the community here.

Any chance the city gets off it's 🞵🞵🞵 and finally does something about the trashy looking non-functional lights on the west side of Congress Ave bridge?

I honestly can't believe they haven't removed them yet, especially by such a prominently seen part of Austin by millions of tourists and bat watchers.

There's an equally disheveled strand on the Lamar bridge too. It would be cool if both of these were restored to working order, but I imagine the bat folks would throw a fit on Congress now.

Honestly I'd be happy if they washed and cleaned the underside of that bridge. Looks astonishingly nasty, not to mention ugly.

I don't know if I just missed it, or if they didn't update it until after I posted this, but this says the crane is for the construction of a new 7-story Energy Engineering Building at UT along 24th Street.

The empty Threadgill's restaurant on Riverside and the adjoining parking lot are fenced off as if demo is impending. One traffic lane next to the building is closed as well.

I figured it was to stop unauthorized people from parking there. Normally the workers from 425 Riverside park there, but lately a lot of people going to One Texas Center have bee using the parking lot.
Either way, there has to be a better use for the property than an empty building.
