Regarding The Butterfly itself, and its possible new neighbor, Nelson-on-The-Park, I have to say that I much preferred the former design of Nelson. It was a sleek and original counterpoint.
The new, bulging design rather competes with The Butterfly, whereas the original was tall straight, elegant, and very original with the pixellated roof. IMO only. Others will disagree.

The trees in question were fairly sizable, and were protected during demolition.

A 9 year construction process? Exceedingly unlikely, unless there is a major event causing a delay.

The excavation looks to be about half way down already, moving at a good clip so far.
