^^ Thanks for the great "in progress" photos! It never dawned on me that there was going to be the addition at the read of the building until I saw these (I had to look at the renders again to see it). Looking forward to seeing more of these!

I'd love to know the Building Code hoops they were able to jump through to get the City to allow a wood framed multi-storey box addition to this building.

Seeing as the entire thing (including the flat roof!!!) is clad in OSB - it won't be very long for this world anyways.

Gross.

From the render that gives a glimpse of the rear of the building it looks like the wood framed portion will have the same black structure around it as the front. Perhaps these serve as supporting structures?

DK why a flat roof in a district full of flat roofs is so shocking???

I'm still looking forward to seeing the finished project. IMO any extensive rehabilitation of these buildings is a good thing.

He is saying the flat OSB wood roof is an issue. Not flat roof in general. They usually are metal truss and metal deck.

More Residental on Princess.

I saw that last week when I was in town getting a beaver pelt at Bill Worb. I believe the sign suggested 40ish residential units by Hoffer. More great news!

This project is not part of the Centre Venture RFP next door. I am unaware of any update on those parcels as of yet.

While I agree this may be a problem for them in the future, I have to assume they will be applying a torched on roof membrane. The budget just would not absorb a steel studded structure. I thing it’s a clever building and will withhold any judgement until it’s finished. I hope they have a cladding material which will age well...

On the topic of new residential buildings in the Exchange, are there any further updates on the building that may be going up in the lot at 104 James Ave across from the Pumphouse?

That was an 11 storey, 90 unit building proposed by Shelter Canadian Properties Ltd. Unfortunately it has been cancelled.

Isn't the whole problem that there is no TIF right now?

The TIF just goes away.

That's too bad. As I recall, it was a big parkade with a building on top....that was the issue.

Even though the amount of parking is insane, the Platform Innovation Centre being built in Calgary is a big building with the parking on top.
