WestJet is the only non-unionized airline in the country...

He's saying he'll pay more for WestJet because Air Canada is unionized and apparently demanding fair treatment and such.

Oh I see. That's weird though because I always hear Air Canada employees bitching about the company, and a couple of my friends recently quit from them because they were being mistreated for having mental health concerns. Whereas WestJet is considered one of the top three best employers in Alberta and treat their employees incredibly well, even their call centre employees get stock benefits and shit.

Anyways, new page new photos.

The majesty that is Telus Sky...

I'll go for whatever's cheaper, and if it's equally priced (as it often is, down to the dollar) usually pick AC as they have nicer planes and I find the service to be more or less on par. They both kinda suck though, although better than flying domestic in the US. I used to love Porter but service quality has dropped in recent years, though getting a free beer is still nice. Domestic flights in South Africa were head and shoulders above anything I've experienced in North America, with full service on even the discount airlines.
So true on Porter.

Anywho, yes I obviously understand that it was a business move, but it was still thoughtful and, if Westjet could mobilize that quickly, Air Canada could have done the same in at least a reasonable amount of time instead of financially gouging customers, with the lowest number of planes possible without actually being criminally negligent.
You are still ignoring that the oil patch is Westjet's hub with the relationships and infrastructure in place to respond much quicker than Air Canada could. The gouging was a clerical error .. an automated response to people switching flights .. which the media blew up as the usual populist response that sells subscriptions over simply reporting the situation.

Man, that is one fantastic tower Calgary.

I'm heading out of town tomorrow so I'll get a good view of the Bay Park tower going up...I'm curious on seeing how it looks with it's cladding on.(I mean physically, not through these photos)

While technically true, keep in mind that a majority of Westjet employees are part of different unions, with the attendants being part of CUPE, while the pilots being part of ALPA (AirLine Pilots Association)

Their unionization is a very recent event. WestJet for the vast majority of its existence has been quite anti-union,

On topic, CIBC is looking fantastic.

With all this condo construction almost forgot what it was like to see an office tower rise.

Nothing against condos of course. The One will be interesting as well.

Speaking of the one the second lower floor parking is almost ready to be poured. These were taken Tuesday so they may have actually already started pouring.

YSL and 160 Front should be included in the list.

Here is the diagram: http://skyscraperpage.com/diagrams/?searchID=85925683

160 Front is #3 on the top 10 list, YSL is still in the demo phase... once it begins shoring and excavation it will be added.

*sigh*, Soon Stantec and Telus Sky will be off that list and it'll just be Toronto towers for the first time in ages... and will likely last for a long time, that is unless Quebec City's Tour Phare and Edmonton's Aldritt Tower fantasies becomes reality.

Looks like a year left to go on Telus Sky. Could be the first time ever Toronto has the list for itself. The only city that boomed high rises while the rest of the country stagnated was 1990s Vancouver.
