Not sure if anybody mentioned it but Meat and Bread is opening on West Broadway and Willow (near VGH).

Looking in the doorway, it will take a while. Loz Takos is also opening 2 doors down, similar state of reno.

Finally, after over 2 years of being on the market, the old Grantree Furniture space at 11th and Main has been leased. Hoping it's a nice restaurant and not a Sleep Country Canada.

Love it or hate it, Daily Hive is good for constantly posting tons of updates on every topic, and always lots of bonus info. Compared to sites like the Vancouver Sun, Daily Hive kills it with their frequency and randomness of topics (which is gold to SSP people like us!).

Anyways, they just posted this. Has so many updates I can't even list them all, but it is a very good ready to get a summary of openings:

I was at Metrotown for the first time in ages, and I noticed that Fortune House is no longer, and a Chef Tony will replace it (still undergoing renovations). That's sad to me. I loved their dim sum.

I was really surprised to find out that Montana's location in Surrey's Walnut Grove has closed. Sure, it was rather close to the Langley location, but still a shame as it was conveniently located along Highway 1.

Big G Fried Chicken Steaks has finally opened their doors at 382 Robson, just across from the library. I live upstairs from this. The thing I like about my building is that aside from the Starbucks on the corner (Homer & Robson) all the retail units along Robson and Homer are small (about this size). I think it gives all kinds of little upstarts the chance to do their thing. I have a plethora of eating options immediately downstairs.

Update on the new Brown's Crafthouse opening soon on Main Street... They've taken the the street facing wall out completely so they can build a good sized patio space, and they have stripped away all of the stucco material that faced on the 16th Ave side. I'm not a big fan of chains like Brown's but the renovated exterior will look much better than before.

There's been a lot of businesses closing down along Main Street in the last 2 years. The grocery store at 10th and Main is now up for lease. It's on the East side of Main street in a high traffic area (bike route, new development 50m away etc). There will probly be another bar/resto as it is on the east side of Main which restaurants prefer, and there is room for patio space along 10th Ave. Once again we will likely see a renovated exterior which will be huge improvement here.

Considering it is kitty corner from the old Architype space that has been empty for years, don’t hold your breath. Main Street is jumping the shark from cool neighbourhood street to just another West Fourth.

Did excessive tattoos and piercings suddenly become passe? If so, somebody should send a polite note to Main Street because wow it's ground zero for that kind of stuff.

Does this place sell Chicken Fried Steaks like the Southern Comfort food? Or Chicken Steaks like in Asia (Aka Chicken chops)?

Is Walnut Grove near Colossus?
That Montana's closed a while back - tried to go there last October and those relying on their phones ended up at the Langley City Montana's, while the rest of us waited at the closed location.

Big G has a stall at the night market I think. I went there for the first time in a few years on friday, it was pretty packed as usual. Only tried a couple things, they were pretty good.

California Pizza Kitchen (CPK) has closed all its locations in Washington at Northgate Mall (401 NE Northgate Way, Seattle) and Bellevue Square (595 106th Avenue NE, Bellevue) effective today August 8.

https://seattle.eater.com/2019/8/6/20756...-washington-locations-northgate-bellevue

This certainly signals that CPK is not staying in Washington or coming to British Columbia.

The India Gate Restaurant on Robson has closed down already (for redevelopment of the site).

some new food options for the outlet mall at YVR opening in 2020

New food hall in Richmond will feature 4 Calgary-based concepts

DH Vancouver Staf f| Aug 20 2019

The McArthur Glen Designer Outlet in Richmond is about to get some delicious new additions, specifically four concepts from Calgary-based grub company 98 Food Co.

The 98 Food Co. told Daily Hive that they would be working on a new food hall at the designer outlet, and it will feature four banners: Dirtbelly, Hula Poke, Chachi’s, and Deville Coffee.

Sad, loved that place for post work drinks, though I hear a replacement serving similar food and beverage is on the way...
